December Art Prompt 25: Christmas sweaters!!
HAPPY LIFE DAY EVERYONE. I hope wherever you are and whatever’s going on, there’s something you’re looking forward to in times ahead. xx
December Art Prompt 20: Wearing a costume
Right from the start I knew I was going to revisit their Halloween (or ‘All Star’s Eve’ as we christened it) costumes, mostly because I always intended to show of Crow’s outfit (and his grand entrance) in all its glory. Ahuska was exceptionally amused but also probably made him keep it on longer than strictly necessary.
December Art Prompt 05: With their family
I think if I wasn’t so hellbent on trying to get these done to schedule, I would have spent a LOT more time on the pencils for this one ‘cause I’m already painfully critical of this and I was hoping it’d be at least 20% nicer but hey. Finesse isn’t really the point of this art challenge!
I love this silly little family though. I’ve been meaning to draw the ol’ space accordion (who am I kidding that’s just a regular accordion I haven’t even TRIED to make it spacey) for months so this was a grand excuse. Plus I haven’t even drawn Boy properly yet. He’s a good doofy varactyl. And Pexu’s gettin’ biiiiiig...!
Don’t mind me I’m just feeling really damned accomplished! I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to complete this challenge or not, let alone in full colour!! Managed to find reason to crank out a heap of things that have been sitting on the backburner for a while, not to mention just draw a heap of things I probably otherwise never would have. Kinda nice to give my old lizard boy a little love again, too. I almost remembered how to draw him by the end!
Anyway all the prompts I worked off came from the ‘Draecember’ art challenge, which I repurposed for my Star Wars RP kids because they were really neat and accessible prompts, and I thank the makers of the challenge for putting this together!! I also wanna give huge props to @cinlat for taking on the written version of this challenge along with me! Now that I’m done I’ve actually got some spare time to catch up on reading some of the works she’s created for this, there’s been a lot of fun stuff. :D
It’s been a super fun, SUPER productive month and I’m glad I did this, but boy oh boy am I ready for a break now. TY to everyone who liked my nonsense along the way <3
“Buir! Buir!! Look!!”
“Hus’ika, honey, put him down...!”
(December Art Prompt 11: ‘As a child’. Not gonna lie I have been looking forward to this one!!! Ahuska was definitely not the sort of Mandalorian kid who could put together a rifle at age 5, but she had her own set of skills.)
December Art Prompt 26: With a pet
Well this was a no brainer! I’ve drawn Pexu a bit but haven’t done a nice one of Ahuska with Boy. Honestly when I started RPing her the damn varactyl had more backstory than she did!
He’s a good Boy.
December Art Prompt 10: Formal wear
A direct contrast to the previous piece, and something that is looming in Ahuska’s very near future. (Props to @acaciathorn for designing some amazing traditional Bothan wear that I borrowed heavily from for this, because, heck, why re-invent the wheel?)
===
They had to be coming. They had to be. They couldn’t possibly believe...
Ahuska fought back a sob, hugging her arms across her chest. Silk. She was wearing silk. Red and black and gold, everything in this damned house was red and black and gold, and she loathed it. Loathed the colours, loathed the feel of the fabric, the way it draped and spilled around her. In another context, she might have appreciated it. Even thought it was pretty. But right now it stood for everything vile about the place she was in and the people who held her. They were cunning, horribly so, and had safeguarded so terribly against her attempts to escape...
“Not my family,” she didn’t feel like herself, didn’t recognise herself.. “Not here. Not this.” She turned and leant heavily across the balcony, gripping the railings as she stared out into the sky. “Feth’s sake, where are you? Get me out of here.”
December Art Prompt 29: Studying
So there was this period early on, when Ahuska had freshly joined up with her new clan and was just getting to know Crow, that she was neck deep in study and research for her Alor, and trying to put together the broken pieces of Crow’s past in the meanwhile. I know at least once I described the inside of her tent as looking something like this?
She was also on the verge of developing a nasty little stim habit because she felt like she couldn’t afford to slow down ever, but thankfully that got nipped in the bud pretty quickly.
I think, despite everything that’s happened and is still going on, she’s actually quite a bit more chill nowadays.
