Summary: whatever it was that angered Raphael, it certainly was enough for him to lose control and change into his ascended form
Notes: seeing a few pictures of Raphael's ascended form made me wonder if there is a possibility of him being so royally pissed off that he'd actually turn into that form to let all his rage out 🤔 but no matter his form, we're still loving him so reader is not gonna take any of his anger issues 😂
You sprinted down the hallways, the savage shriek intensifying as you neared the bedroom. Debtors rushed past you, panic etched on their faces as they desperately tried to distance themselves from the piercing screams. As you rounded the final corner, you caught sight of Haarlep making his escape from the boudoir. He grabbed hold of your wrist just a few steps away from the room, while the air filled with more animalistic howls and the unsettling sounds of furniture being torn asunder.
"You don't want to go in there, little mouse", the incubus warned with a quivering voice, "he's not himself, he'll hurt you!"
You ripped your arm out of his grasp and cautiously entered the room. Haarlep's shouts faded into the background as you were transfixed by the shocking scene before you. The marble floor was strewn with shards of shattered vases, while remnants of torn pillows floated serenely in the pool. Wooden fragments, once part of elegant tables and chairs, added to the chaos. And at the center of it all stood a large and truly dreadful creature, its back turned to you.
"Raphael?", you whispered hesitantly.
The creature spun around, extending its wings in a menacing display while lowering its head, growling dangerously at your small figure. Your breath caught as the searing heat of its breath grazed your skin, but you stood firm as it drew near. You should have been afraid, everyone else in the House of Hope tried to get as far away as possible, you saw beyond the exterior. This was merely another form of your Raphael, albeit a frightening and enraged one. However, you knew him well enough to trust that he would not harm you. There even was a certain majestic beauty to his current form. His entire being radiated with an infernal flame, his four flaming horns gracefully curving upward like a demonic crown adorning his head. Two additional faces emerged from his visage, each mouth adorned with formidable tusks, while four glowing orange eyes peered directly into the depths of your soul. Instinctively, your hand reached out to make contact, but before it could reach him, he took a step back, shaking his head as one of his massive paws touched a fragment of wood, instantly scorching it.
You smiled gently at him before taking a seat on the only remaining chair. From there, you watched as he tilted his head curiously, his predatory gaze fixed on you.
"This is the most dramatic I've ever seen you", you chuckled, "don't even think for a second that I'm going to miss what's happening next."
Raphael let out a deep growl, his frustration evident as he threw his head back in annoyance, his tail slamming on the ground while his large wings folded back with a slight twitch.
