I don't get why people tell me "maybe you haven't met the right person" when I come out as asexual. Oh, am I going to suddenly find people sexually attractive the moment I find the right person. That's going to soooo happen

Can you explain whats wrong with "Cishet aces are straight." Something about it sits wrong with me but I can't put into words....

asexual means having no sexual orientation. they aren’t straight. straight = heterosexual. heterosexual means ‘attraction to the opposite sex’ (and refers to the gender binary). asexuality is not synonymous with straight, and has never been synonymous with straight, and people who say so are erasing asexuality and should be summarily ignored. 

that said, cishet asexuals are also part of the lgbtqia community and people who say they aren’t are erasing asexuals and should be summarily ignored. 

and, y’know, if you wanna delve even deeper into it... the statement “cishet aces are straight” is completely ignoring the fact that they have no sexual attraction and suggests that if one has no sexual attraction it means that they default to “straight” b/c the person making that statement either a: believes that asexuality doesn’t exist, or b: assumes “straight” is the norm if they DID have a sexuality and is equally fuckin’ irritating.
