I was watching tik tok and some dude started talking about fanfics that become books and he said the usual thing, Larry fanfics and BTS fanfics and that person said Banana Fish (well the guy said it was a douijinshi) AND I WAS LIKE... EXCUSE ME? Since when did Banana Fish start as a douijinshi? But otherwise I was thinking like: Well maybe it was a My Own Private Idaho doujinshi because there are a lot of official Banana Fish illustrations that depict Ash and Eiji as Keanu and River's characters [sorry don't know the character names i din't watch the movie] but the person in the video said "It was a Karate Kid douijinshi" AND I JUST FREAKED A LIKE WHAT?? SINCE??? UH??? WHEN???
I mean, I've been in the Banana Fish fandom (sadly 💀) since the anime started and I read the manga, so I guess I would know that this thing started as a doujinshi of the fucking DANIEL LARUSO and the blond dude from COBRA KAI.
Does anyone know anything about this??? Because it was literally the only thing I was thinking about since I saw this video.
