Magical Girl March Day 30: Magical Boy

This is another old (really old, at this point in time) drawing, but I really liked the design and honestly didn't have the time/energy to design a whole new outfit for a new character.

So have a magical boy Asher (from my webcomic Xenobiosis) as an entry for this art challenge and also because updates have been really really crappy with my comic for the past few months. I did a series of magical girl/boy versions of my characters a few years ago but never posted them anywhere (excluding Lex, which was last year's magical boy), so I'll share this one with you all now.

Asher's always been a very composed character, so I thought the theme of 'prince' or 'knight'  suited him well for a magical boy theme.

Sportsy dorks being dorks after practice.

Asher’s on his university’s varsity King’s Corner team. Canan is on the junior varsity team at the same university. Lilith is a gymnast, contortionist, and aerialist. She also helps out with the university’s cheerleading squad despite not canonically being a student there (yet) because of her strength and agility and she’s always hanging around Canan and Asher and Canan’s girlfriend Jessica, captain of the cheerleading squad, took a liking to her.

Lilith wouldn’t actually wear just a sleeveless shirt if she was practicing at the university though, she’d wear a long sleeved shirt or something underneath and some kind of fingerless glove to hide her tattoo since humans don’t particularly like her kind. Jessica isn’t one of those people though, and is one of the few people at the university who knows about what she is and doesn’t care. She’d also stand up for her if she was being bullied because of it, which is something that would happen. Asher would do the same thing. I can’t say for sure Canan would do that or not, he and Lilith have a tense relationship for a long time because they’re different species.

There’s lots about these characters I want to explore in slice of life things like this and I really want to add them to the comic but I’m worried it’d deter from the ‘fantasy/adventure’ description I give it and that people would find it boring and uninteresting.
