it  pained  him  so.  her  soft  sobs  of  sorrow  accompanied  by  loneliness  hurt  him  more  than  she  could  realize.  what  could  he  do  to  take  away  her  pain?  hurt  those  that  have  reigned  it  upon  her,  his  mind  decided.  to  ensure  nothing  like  this  would  ever  happen  to  her  again  because,  angel  knew,  she  was  the  last  person  to  ever  deserve  such  a  violation.  he  held  her  close  without  hesitation,  his  arms  embracing  her  as  he  allowed  her  to  purge  herself  with  tears.  his  heart  broke  a  little  when  she  pulled  away  only  to  make  eye  contact.  he  subtly  admired  the  way  her  tears  would  glisten  in  her  eyes,  the  way  her  hair  fell  messily  over  her  face.  she  was  beautiful.  he  only  saw  beauty  when  he  looked  at  her.  his  face  fell  further  at  her  words,  a  part  of  him  knew  she  wasn't  entirely  wrong  and  he  also  knew  there  wasn't  much  he  could  do  to  change  that.     ❛     it  doesn't  have  to  all  fall  on  you,  cordy,  it  shouldn't.  we're  all  in  this  together.  we  help  who  we  can  as  much  as  we  can     ❜   he  replied,  placing  a  comforting  hand  on  her  knee  as  he  kept  soft  eye  contact.

❛    i  wouldn't  be  able  to  do  all  i  do  without  you,  cordelia.  i  need  you     ❜    he  insisted,  his  heart  sinking  lower  than  he  had  felt  in  so  long.  his  hand  reaches  out  and  wipes  away  her  tears  gently  with  his  thumb,     ❛    i  will  never  let  anyone  touch  you  again   ...   don't.  it's  not  your  fault   ❜   he  told  her  firmly  but  in  a  softened  tone.     ❛    you're  cordelia  freakin'  chase.  if  there's  one  person  that  can  kick  some  ass,  it's  you.   ❜    a  comforting  smile  appears  on  the  vampire's  face.

alice always DID have the most curious of dreams. it didn't mean that she remembered much, or all of it ; the bits, and pieces. how she wasn't sure what life she was living, or where she was within it, but ah! why drive oneself mad over the details? there were still, yet, a good number of things for a girl to get up to, dangers and fun, mischief and adventure! so long as one's curiousity was being itched... the rest was simply details that she could fill into the edges if need be. right now was the real fun! that skipping, stepping stone, jump - from one moment into the next. a dream, into another dream.

what's more curious are the stranger few that she managed to see in these moments. for some times, it was fire and brimstone! in others, it was simply an ocean at the end of time, whose shores stretched onwards, upwards, impossible. right now, is but another landscape, and no - it didn't always MAKE SENSE. but the best things often never did! at least... that's what alice tells herself. that's what she knows to be true.

so to see a stranger, a new girl, a figure! it's not so much a moment for alarm, oh no! but a fellow traveller... wasn't that right? correct? upright? but why does she have to look so awfully DISTRESSED, able to taste that fear, that tinged confusion that wrings through her, desperate. something that begged of her to stop, even though alice has a strange feeling that she ought to be moving, dodging, wary. how could she ever let a mystery well enough alone? palms, fisting at lace and blue. "now what on earth are you doing here?" that blinkering of long lashes, a wider grin. how she seems, yet, oddly familiar, and yet ; like a glimpse of a falling slice of a mirror. she can't quite put together the fullness, or the whole. "are you quite alright there? need a hand up?"

i think that thranduil would likely say they bring out the worst in each other, but only insofar as they tend to be even more headstrong and mischievous together than they are as individuals. as close friends who grew up almost like siblings, i imagine they'd often get each other into all kinds of trouble, even venturing together into parts of mirkwood that weren't patrolled by their kin any longer out of sheer youthful curiosity.

setting tauriel on a path to become captain of the guard was thranduil's best attempt to calm her down and make her less of an inciting influence on legolas. (it didn't work.)

@ashesrebirthed (keiko) gets a biker lottie au starter.

AFTER HAVING TO NEARLY BEAT DOWN one of her regular girls for drug possession, Lottie stands at a full stance and turns to look over towards Keiko. Sweat dripping down her face before running fingers through her hair with a heavy exhalation of breath. She notices Hiroshi and takes a simple nod in his direction, ❝ get him out of here. ❞ She says, not wanting the poor boy to see the indication of abuse she's about to unfold. Because a lesson needs to be learned and with Natalie still gone, it's up to Lottie to put up the slack in her place. And this was not the place or time to put a young boy through the trauma of what could be considered detrimental or violent.

Normally, they wouldn't be subjecting him to such a place, but Keiko was there to meet up with Lottie for dinner to discuss Nat's release and unfortunately, things had taken a turn for the worst in the process, outside of anyone's control. It doesn't take long before she finishes, finding Keiko and the boy later on outside the establishment with a cigarette in hand which is soon quickly demolished by the heel of her boot.

❝ Protocols. ❞ She says, as if that simple statement in itself made anything better, she hopes to some degree that it does. ❝ You understand. ❞ Or, can only hope, knowing already that Keiko is of understanding on how things are run around the establishment. It was no real place for a child just in general but of course, Kei and her son were always more than welcome when things are usually more tamed. ❝ I'm sorry, that you had to be subjected to that. Shouldn't be a problem again, in the future. ❞ But again, that was just hopeful assumptions talking.

mari was never going to turn down a chance to talk to jackie. were they friends? not really. then again, mari liked to think so, but it wasn't exactly like jackie always came to her for a conversation first. she was often like a lost puppy, who was well meaning deep down, but still followed her around anyways. it wasn't her fault that she wanted to follow in the other girl's footsteps.

they didn't hang out one on one often, or ever. but jackie had come to mari with what seemed like a very important request - to help her make cupcakes for shauna's birthday. apparently, it was supposed to be a surprise, and mari loved nothing more than to be included. it was clear that she was excited by the way that she had instantly suggested that jackie come over to her house that night so that they could get started.

there's still a look of surprise on her face when she swings open the door and sees jackie in front of her. jackie taylor. team captain. someone who seemed like she had her life so together. mari wished she could be like that. maybe she could learn something from this, even if it was something small. "come in," she says, a small smile on her face. "i went shopping after school. or more so, my parents did. got every ingredient on the list."

        “I can hear you, mellon.” Tauriel stops at the top of the stairs leading up from the dungeons, turning at the familiar sound of a soft footfall behind her. “You almost managed to startle me this time.” She smiles slightly, wondering what brings him to this part of the caverns at this time of night.

@ashesrebirthed {jackie} is huddled outside when Nat returns...

Nat and Travis had a lot of shit to sort out. That's what they determined when they left the cabin after the botched mess of a Doomcoming (which could have been pretty fun up until that absolute clusterfuck of Lottie-fueled bullshit, all things considered). But everything between them sort of paled in comparison to the fact that they couldn't find Javi. The nights were getting colder and the food was scarce -- so where could he have gone?

As much as she wanted to help Travis, both teens were still raw over the betrayal that had transpired. Sleeping with the enemy, if they wanted to get cute about it. But... there was no time for that now. There were too many broken pieces for Travis for Natalie to pick up -- better they focus on the freshest ones, where the edges were sharpest.

She'd done too much already for this to be the way it went. She broke his dad's goddamn finger off for that ring he gave to Javi. She was the one picking up the gun to feed the team, when food could be found. To lose anyone now felt like failure. It felt like a waste of survival. They were not losing anyone else if they could help it. Least of all, Natalie didn't want to watch herself losing Travis day by day. It was in his eyes, a light receding and dimming.

"We'll go back out first thing in the morning and look for him," she grunted as they returned to the cabin. Her vow was gruff but earnest, all she had to give at this point. The crash site was too cold for an overnight venture now. Better to be back with the team, where Javi may have already returned. But as they approached in the dusky clearing, a sight caught her eye -- huddled in her varsity jacket, Jackie. Sitting on a stump alone in the woods, looking like a fucking pariah. Natalie rolled her eyes, inwardly groaning. The waning light in the cabin window was warm and buttery, so what the hell was this about?

Natalie put a hand on Travis' bicep and urged him to go inside. He did quietly, without question. Then she tromped her dirt-crusted boots towards the place where a fire would have been, for anyone slightly competent in survival skills.

"Hey, c'mon -- the fuck is this about, Jackie? This the next step of your hunger strike, or --?"
