As I’m fucking inundated with Christian bullshit today, I wanted to take a sec to opine on some thoughts I have about why a lot of Christian theology frustrates me personally as a Jew. I’m not really practicing but I was raised Jewish and it’s still a core part of who I am, and it’s still my culture.

There’s a really uncomfortable disconnect in both history and theology as explored by a lot of Christians in that it’s a religion that was founded by Jews in a thoroughly Jewish context, but spread pretty much exclusively through the conversion of goyim. It relies on the Tanakh as a frame of reference but often only engages with it shallowly, and especially uses it essentially as a foil for Christianity. Here’s an example from Twitter of someone doing pretty much exactly that and framing it in an LGBTQ+ friendly way.

Even setting aside the centuries and centuries of pogroms (which obviously you can’t really do), Christianity has a tendency to view us as the past: a background against which to build their religion. But they still often treat Judaism as if we’re part of their tradition when we really aren’t, and haven’t really been since a couple generations after Christianity first began.

I realize this is kind of rambling but I’ve been thinking about it a lot since Christmas is unavoidable today. In a lot of ways they’re trying to climb onto our shoulders and say they’re 10 feet tall.

I miss you all I promise! I’m so sorry for my inactivity but life has just hit my family hard this year. Between the ice apocalypses in February, hurting my back, and then my girls and my entire family really have just been sick for basically all of this summer. My husband tested positive for COVID about two weeks ago, even though we are vaccinated and it hit us hard. I’m shocked he didn’t get it sooner since he is a medic but it now has gotten us. I love you all and miss my sims terribly. I hope to be more active soon.

not me looking up who mercelot entailed 😂 but, okay, real tea™️ here: i love their friendship—like, i love it with my entire being. i write them as bffls in probably every one of my fics because their dynamic (in the small amount we saw them together) was honestly one of my favorite things that we witnessed in this show.

there was something so beautiful about lance knowing about the magic. lancelot saw merlin entirely, and merlin needed that with someone. he deserved to have someone look at him with such awe and devotion and pride—to be told that he was the bravest of them all. and lance did that...and he did it so fucking brilliantly.

i think that’s why i constantly have lance alive in my fics because when he died, i was so fucking devastated. not just because he did die, even though that was horrendous, but because he “willingly” left merlin. i know lance did it because he is so incredibly noble and becuase of that entire conversation: “I look at you and I wonder about myself. Could I knowingly give up my life for something?” “You have to have a reason. Something you care about. Something that's more important than anything.” AND THEN THE MF SACRIFICES HIMSELF IMPLYING THAT MERLIN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING. god, im sad all over agin...but, back on topic, at the end of the day, lance left merlin alone to shoulder his burdens (merlin was set to die, but then lance leaves and i can’t imagine how fucking alone merlin must have felt when lance was gone).

lance was someone truly unique for merlin, someone who helped him feel less like a monster and more like the tragic hero he was...but he still left him. and with the way that seasons 4/5 just continued to get worse for merlin, lance dying was like a bad omen (it was like their version of saying macbeth during a play). SO thats why i keep him alive! because lancelot, i believe, at least, was one of the best people to come into merlin’s life and our boy deserved that.

so oops i may have taken this question a little too seriously? i feel deeply about them😔 but, if you were asking if i ship them? the answer will be a nah from me lmfao

3. A rant

This is gonna be such an adult rant… but like 4 people in my street see having work done to their home and gardens. One who lives opposite me.

Yesterday cause of the way the fucking workmen parked I had to reverse up my street to be able to get Out and I had to take my hubby to be cars cause there was NO WAY in hell would I have gotten mine off the drive.

And WHO the fuck thinks starting HEAVY banging and drilling at 7am is fucking acceptable!!! It is not! I might be up at 630 but I still don’t want to hear it that early!!!! 😡🤬🤬

It’s like wacky races in my street at the best of times but… now it’s insane.
