Auspicious Mantra Mandala
Hasta Thangka Art Center wrote : Mantra here refers to the recitation of the essence words of the particular rituals of deities. When the word mantra is separated into two segments, it reveals the inner menning of salvaging one's mind from conceptualization, concept and fear. "Man" in Sanskrit means mind, and "tra" in Sanskrit means to protect. "om mani padme hum" the six syllables, om mani pad me hum, mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.

The wheel with the eight spokes embodies the eightfold path to enlightenment.

Perpetually fascinated by these Shankhas — conch shells of ritual and religious importance in Hinduism — that were intricately hand carved in Tibet. In Buddhism, the conch shell has been incorporated as one of the eight auspicious symbols, also called Ashtamangala. Each Shankha has fantastically detailed art depicting either Citipati, Kali, Ganesh, White Tara, or the Birth of Buddha. The Ashtamangala “The Eight Auspicious Signs”
Ashtamangala Here's a little silk of these sacred Buddhist symbols, highlighted with pure 24ct gold. I've stretched the silk over a gilded canvas which, like many of my other silks, then shimmer with changing light and angle. The edges are left slightly freyed, but the entire piece is fixed down with artist glue. 12" x 9.5 " canvas but may set it on a hard mount. This is a silk piece depicting eight of symbols held in high esteem within Tibetan Buddhism. They are the Precious Umbrella – protection & royalty, including wisdom and compassion. the Conch – the far reaching sound of the Dharma teachings the Victory Banner – seen as the Buddha’s enlightenment and our own victory over obstacles and harmful negative forces the Golden Fish – happiness and freedom through the waters of emotion the Dharma Wheel – the wheel of teachings and the spiritual Universe the Endless Knot drawing – the endless wisdom of unity & harmony through the meditative mind the Lotus Flower – purity and spiritual unfolding the Vase Treasure – long and prosperous life, spiritual fulfillment and the end of our cyclic existence #silkalchemy #tillycampbellallen #buddhist #Ashtamangala #sacredart
