Hey so soulcasters are fabrials that mimic a surgebinding, right? Do they have inkspren and cryptics inside? Nobody's managed to replicate soulcasters and the higher orders of spren stayed away from humans after the recreance. Did they agree to power a fabrial or are they just trapped there?

For some time now I’ve speculated that soulcasters had spren willingly trapped in them, at least in their origin. Unfortunately, we can’t prove it yet. Navani is investigating it and she will solve it by the end of Rhythm of War.

Soulcasters manifested as small unresponsive spren, hovering with their eyes closed. So the Soulcasters did have a captured spren. A Radiant spren, judging by their shape. Intelligent, rather than the more animal-like spren captured to power normal fabrials.

These spren were held captive in Shadesmar, and made to power Soulcasters.

According to this, the spren inside a soulcaster are small. In the Physical Realm, cryptics are relatively small but inkspren aren’t, Ivory has a human size. And in Shadesmar, the Cognitive Realm, Pattern had a human size in Oathbringer. Do soulcasters have inkspren and cryptics inside? The answer is no unless they somehow get smaller during the process. It’s a valid theory though, very interesting.

The sad truth is we know very little about soulcasters at this moment. If someone in the fandom wants to add something I might have missed, please do.

So what’s the general mood in the wagon now?

Still a little shell shocked and confused, Thomas lowers himself to sit on the wagon floor to process what just occurred. He looks up at Patton, who is looking at him with a concerned expression looking like he wants to go over to Thomas, but not knowing if he could.

Thomas look s over to Logan as well, who is looking at him with a similar concerned expression, Logan tilts his head subtly toward Patton, telling Thomas to take Patton up on the likely hug that would occur.

Thomas nods, likely to signal to both Logan and Patton for different reasons and Patton goes over as quickly as he can and embraces Thomas tightly. When they pull back, Patton finally asks, “Are you okay? Dee was... a little intense there.”

Thomas waves his hand a little, “It’s fine, I did have your necklace after all. I... don’t know why I had it, but I didn’t take it or steal it from you.”

Patton places his hand on Thomas’s knee gently, “I believe you Thomas, I know you’re a good person and that you really didn’t take it, even if we don’t know how it did get there.”

Thomas nods.

“Thank you.”

You drift up to Dee.

His gaze wavers from the road ahead, but he doesn’t reply at first. The peaks of the mountain have come much closer as the late afternoon sun begins to dip closer and closer to the horizon.

“It’s... not that simple.”
