Not trying to be a dick.. I just came across an answered ask and was curious, but what's the difference between calling,for example, the spanish flu the Spanish Flu and calling the Corvid-19 the Wuhan/Chinese Coronavirus.

well the thing is, they called it ‘spanish flu’ 100 yrs ago and nobody thought anything of it. y’know what else nobody thought anything of? segregation and racism in general. so… while they shouldn’t have called it spanish flu to begin with (especially since we still don’t know where it actually came from - the first known case was probably reported in kansas, not spain), it was a different matter back then to people. doesn’t make it right, but that’s just how it is. the name stuck.

today, we know better. or we should know better. we know the kind of effect such labelling can have. we see it everyday.

besides, the virus’ name is really not hard to remember or to pronounce, so there’s no excuse or need to resort to a racist and incorrect alias.

University has started again, real life mostly this time and I. Am. Happy. And. Tired. And. Stressed. But you know, I'll be fine! Just little time to write (am a bit in a slum, tbh)

I'm finally seeing my friends legally again though, which is nice. I hugged someone!!!!! Both vaxxed people it was great ;.)

Right so this isn't a request. I'm just here to tell you that in the Philippines, the Christmas season starts as soon as the -ber months come around. It's September and people are already putting up decorations. Imagine the Riordan characters going here in September or October and getting really confused because 'is that a christmas tree? Why is there a christmas tree it's not even november yet'

I mean, jokes on them, because we've been selling Sinterklaas decorations (a Dutch holiday) since what, august? Sinterklaas is December 5th. If anything I think they would just, accept it and be happy or sth. Eat a candy cane :)
