TELL ME ABOUT THE TWIN SUN's GUARDIANS!!! I see you tag that on really beautiful pictures on your blog sometimes, and I would love to learn more!
So. It started as a self insert story that let me figure out my way into multiple fantasy universes. Then I realized there was a wee bit of potential so I started letting the plotbunnies loose on the side characters, and, well, bob’s your uncle.
Floating castle full of angels that have hidden themselves for the betterment of the world. They advanced in technology sooner, and elected to let humanity do the same on their own pace They control a prophecy about the twin sons (suns, translation has never been clear) becoming the end of the world. The angels (or, really, winged denziens. They just all have wings, yeah? They aren’t servants to the christian man upstairs.) figure that there’s no one better or more powerful to control this prophecy than them, so they try to make twin sons with the power of suns inside them. Cover all their bases.
However...magic goes awry, and one becomes a daughter. The angels and their republic elect to see how they can tweak the formula to make it work. Unil that time? They have to keep an eye on and keep track of pretty much two very powerful kids to make sure the world ends in the right place.
There (of course) are demons that dwell beneath the earth, too. They heard of the prophecy, and are trying to do the same thing, however all they keep doing is creating mutations upon themselves. There’s...hard feelings. Bad negotiations. Racism. (It...exists in the way we’re familiar with, too. And is confronted. I’m working on how different religions/cultures/races would fit into the city. I’m still trying to figure out if Muslim angels would cover their wings.)
There’s a small group/branch of the military. Part secret service, part babysitters, part order keepers. They’re called (Surprise) The Twin Sun’s Guardians. Technically, they answer to the Republic, but, well, they’ve been doing a shitty job at it.
The series starts where the Republic has pulled a few strings, and instead of one Guardian who’s worked her way up through the military (her name’s Rain), they’ve chosen a former assistant to the Republic, named Lancius. And, well...it’s not taken well.
There’s Jonathan, a demon, who is very close to the Daughter. He kinda keeps to himself, but helps the Guardians a lot. He’s not liked by demons. And not trusted by angels, even though he really hasn’t given them any reason to, other than existing.
There’s the Republic, who’s positions are chosen by naming a successor. One seat has been held by a bloodline for...as long as it began. They’re a little inbred. And the next in line is named Anaximander. He’s very pretty and very dangerous.
One seat has been held by a certain member for as long as anyone cares to remember. His name is Henri. He functions as librarian (among many many other things) and he is around 6′4″ without heels (Agender, he/him/his pronouns). He is about as goth as they come, clove cigarettes and all.
And so...yeah! Without being too spoilery, that’s the lot of it.
