The Soul was supposed to be Spamton's ticket to Freedom. The opportunity for him to fly so high he could peer into Heaven, and finally, truly, make it Big. But when he closed that Dark Fountain, his dream rejected him as cruelly as it could, and made one thing very clear.

He isn't a Darkner anymore.

He's not a Lightner, either.

Spamton was unique, and that terrified him.

After Spamton received a fraction of The Human Soul, life went pretty okay. He managed to reunite with Tenna, help the prophetic heroes on their journey to prevent The Roaring, and grow stronger as an individual. But following a less than pleasant reunion with the man behind the phone and an even less pleasant stint in Heaven, he quickly discovers that The Soul's power is greater than he can handle.

Another bright pulse of light, another scream of pain, then there was nothing. The robot collapsed to the ground having lost the last wire that held it aloft, leaving the two limp as a soft glow slowly began to beat from the robot’s chest.

The fruit of Kris’ labour laid before them. Spamton’s heart and soul; turquoise blue with cracks that glowed deep red.

After fifteen thousand years I've finally made art for chapter one, and it just so happens to have coincided with that super mega monster reaching 500 kudos. My Gasters are flabbered, and I want to thank each and every person who has taken the time to read it, I never would have been able to do it without you guys. This whole project has been such a lovely experience. The people I managed to connect with, the way it helped me hone not even my writing skills but my artistic talents as well is certainly something I'm insanely proud of. I know it's not perfect, haha! The first chapters are pretty rough, but I'm so glad that folks were still able to enjoy it. If you're even a little bit curious, I'd certainly love if you checked it out so I can keep up the self-hype for the eventual sequel fic. Thank you for listening to my rambling hehe.

Chapter 21 of a Single Red Wire has been released

“So this is the other dark world, huh…? I expected it to be more… more,” Noelle mutters, bringing a hand to the side of her head to move the hair from her face.

“[Dark] Worlds are [News Feed] by the items in the space the dark fountain [Occupied]. When Kris brought everything to the [Supply Closet], they took everything [except] the closet,” Spamton said, gesturing to the castle deep into the distance, "Nothing that [The Cat Petterz Club] can't handle, right, [Snow Angel]?"

Fic summary: at the end of his battle with Kris and the Gang in Chapter 2, Spamton finds himself on the receiving end of an unexpected kindness. Kris agreed to give him a piece of their Soul as a potential way for him to live for himself again. It doesn't take long for him to realize that this Soul was vastly different than anything he could have expected, though. Not only are they fully sentient, but they seem to have a strange level of interest in Spamton and helping him achieve his goal of true freedom.

So Spamton agrees to help the gang going forward, understanding that he needs to get stronger so he won't have to rely on someone pulling his strings. Doing so allows him to reunite with people from his past, heal from his traumas and slowly regain a hold of his own life.

The Soul says they want what's best for him, but who knows. He's been burned by disembodied voices before.
