Quincy's Tavern

Good morning! I have an awesome surprise for this blog today! Catarina and I went out to get breakfast and went to Quincy’s Tavern. We were one of the only ones there at the time and were able to get a step by step tutorial on how to make our cinnamon twists! My EyePhone caught it all on video so I am happy to announce “Quincy’s Famous Cinnamon Twists” to Astaria Eats. Don’t go too crazy at home, if you get a stomach ache. It’s on you.

I promised everyone an update and so I rushed here as soon as I got home. Here’s the scene: I’m sitting at the counter, depressed, but at least with a warm drink. The news board had no job postings and to make matters worse, someone lost their pet caterpillar. It’s the worst day. But then this woman walked up to me and shook my hand. (Cue the confusion right?) She introduced herself and I found out that she’s the Chief at the news press “Three Sister’s Oracle”, the news company for many of the villages around the lake. At first I was confused about why she would want to talk to me, maybe she liked my style or wanted my opinion on the chai (amazing by the way, go get one). But instead she mentioned that she’s a follower of “Astaria Eats” and loves my writing style. Then, right there on the spot, she interviewed me and offered me a position as a Food Critic for the paper! I’m just so excited, I feel like my words are so jumbled. (Ms. Pemphredo, if you reading this, I promise I write better than this!!) Luckily, I start on Monday and I will not be forced to move back to Lunaville. Unfortunately, most of my time blogging will now be occupied by the paper. I’m not sure when I’ll pick up Astaria Eats, or if I ever will. But just know, that I am here and I am eating. Maybe you should pick up a copy of the paper or come visit me here in Solsburg. Either way, I am eternally grateful for the opportunity you all have provided me with. I wouldn’t be here without y’all. Bye bye!

Chai Latte: Catalyst of Blessings

Okay listen. Go get a chai latte. Go. Like now. They must be some kind of magic. As I recently updated, I went to the cafe to get something to drink. But the most unexpected thing happened and I knew I needed to update you all ASAP. I was subject of a random interview and received the position on spot! Right there in the cafe! I’ll update you on the details later. 

Summary: Chai’s are magical and will grant your wishes.

Sad Moth Hours

Hey guys, today isn’t the best of days. It’s marked three weeks here and still no semblance of a job. My goals are simple. I don’t want to completely run out of savings and I want to be able to afford living here. I’m glad I at least paid for two months of rent ahead of time, but if I can’t find anything then two months may be the extent of my stay here in Solsburg. But I promise you, and most importantly, I promise myself that I will not give up. These three weeks have been fantastic, and I know there’s more to come for me. I know it sounds anti productive but I budgeted everything precisely, I’ll be going to get a drink at a cafe to clear my head. Hopefully their news board has some job postings. I’ll see you love bugs later!

Pastry Heist

Picture this, it’s an uncharacteristically rainy and gloomy day in Solsburg. It’s thundering outside and the shutters are clanging. But oh, what’s this? The fireplace has finally been lit, there’s too many books to read, and a nice cup of coffee waiting to be sipped. So what do you do? Some people might say sleep (which is what Dell is doing), but I say it’s the perfect time to go and get some sweet treats! So I took a walk to the bakery and enjoyed the rainy weather under the haven of my umbrella. The air was so crisp and chilled, it was starting to feel like autumn finally. I picked up enough treats for all of us and headed home. Not before asking if the bakery was hiring, unfortunately they were not but I was able to put my phone number in their system should they ever need help. I know this is starting to sound like one of those recipe blogs where they tell you about how their larvae went to school and how the wyverns at the PTA meeting were rude so I’m just going to jump into the rating system! 

Restaurant: Faerie Cakes

Atmosphere/Decor: Super pink and cute! There were lot’s of star and heart decorations all over the place and pictures of animated cartoon series that I love! They even had a wall of flowers for pictures, I’ll be sure snag one next time I’m there. 

Dress: Casual 

Vibes: Overall it was just a cute spot, I could see myself going there every day after school a few years ago. 

Service: Everyone was really nice and they made sure to grab the cakes that just came out fresh! They even gave me a warm hot chocolate for the walk home. 

Food:

Dish: Pistachio Cake Roll 

Flavor: (8/10) The cake was so sweet with a nutty after taste. I loved how the whipped cream was light and airy. The cake was incredibly moist and very colorful with hints of vanilla and almond.  

Balance: (10/10) There was enough cake that I felt satisfied afterwards. Each bite had the perfect amount of whipped cream to go with it as well. 

Value: (7/10) This cake in particular was on the pricier side for other rolled cakes that I’ve had or even on what was being offered at the bakery. I enjoy artificial pistachio but I feel as though the cake was priced as though everything was made from scratch. 

Presentation: (10/10) I am a sucker for pretty pastries and sweets and these were absolutely gorgeous!

What is your favorite food from Lunaville? We love seeing your adventures in Solsburg but I’m curious about your hometown.

Oh man, that's a really good question anon! I'd say the lavender honey cakes were always the best! The town would have a celebration for the Spring Solstice and everyone brought their best solstice recipes.

Low Budget Foodie

Listen, I know it’s kinda obvious, but I can’t live on savings forever. And I certainly cannot afford to eat out as much as I’d like with what I saved. Do not fret, I still need to eat. So I’ll continue posting about what I have, but I will also keep my faithful followers (you) updated on the job search. Maybe the restaurants I visit will be hiring....Here’s a picture of some tea that I made for tax. Thank you, blessed be my love bugs!

Sunny Solsburg

It has been a little over 24 hours since I arrived in Solsburg. You monsters wouldn’t believe how much of a difference it is across the lake. The days are somehow longer here, and the sun is so warm on my skin but I haven’t sweated once since arriving! Being a Tinea I was unsure how the sun would effect me, but the moon at night is enough to recharge me completely! I would’ve posted much sooner but I needed to make arrangements. I met my room mates yesterday, there’s Dell who’s a Centaur, Catarina who is an Orc, and Maricella who’s a sea nymph! I’ve never met a sea nymph before but apparently she needs to take monthly vacations to the ocean, maybe I’ll try and join her next time! You all are probably thinking “Hey the blog is Astaria Eats, when Is she going to eat?” Soon my beloved creatures, I’m going to get some things for my room but tonight all four of us will go out for dinner.
