silas kingston is pretty much the sidekick to any rich villain in a nineties rom-com come to life. the one that’s just as wealthy, just as much of a douchebag, but too dumb to be the leader of the gang, and more interested in partying than playing weird mind games
due to being raised as a spoiled brat, the concept of not immediately getting whatever he wants isn’t something he’s used to. he goes through life just doing whatever will bring him the most pleasure, and consequences aren’t something he really worries about.
as the middle child, he sometimes feels like he doesn’t get quite as much attention as his older brother (the golden child) or his little sister (the baby of the family), but he’s always just used that to his advantage, taking it as an opportunity to just get away with whatever he wanted to do. he knows that there’s no pressure for him to take over his dad’s company once he retires, since chandler will be doing that for him.

nathan gage “nate” carpenter was born and raised in queens, new york. his mother is an nyu - educated botanist who runs a popular gardening blog and his father owns and operates a sports bar in their neighborhood. he’s the eldest of two children as he has one younger sister who was adopted.
he’s the paternal grandson of drillin’ duvall carpenter, a notable power hitter and hall of fame inductee who won three consecutive world series titles while playing for the oakland a's in the 70s, and the son of joziah “joe” carpenter, who played for the new york yankees and won four world series titles with the team — the most notable of these being his first in 1996, as it was also the year that his eldest child and only son was born. ( nate was just a few days shy of seven months old when he witnessed the game 6 victory at yankee stadium. )
his father officially retired from baseball in the year 2000. with most of his final earnings put into purchasing the family home and funding his new business venture ( opening up a sports bar in their queens village neighborhood ), it was a comfortable, but modest life from then on. nate was five years old when his parents adopted his sister, who would be the fourth and final addition to the family.
he was being taught how to swing a bat before he could even walk, but nate officially started playing baseball when his father signed him up for little league at the age of four, and he took to it immediately. he was good at it, his natural talent soon enhanced by skills achieved through lots of practice. as he grew up, baseball would go from a beloved hobby to his main focus, as well as his favorite thing in the world.
nate’s dad is the quintessential overbearing sports parent, except for the fact that he was never necessarily trying to live vicariously through his child. four - time world series champion joe carpenter didn’t feel unfulfilled ; he was training his son to carry on the family legacy just as his father had done with him. he meant well. he wanted to see nate succeed, but as a child on the receiving end of the relentless and often harsh criticism, nate couldn’t see that. their relationship would grow more and more strained with each passing year.
from winning the little league world series to the 18u baseball world cup with the united states national team, his impeccable record + stats were garnering a lot of attention before he was even in high school. he received several scholarship offers and wound up at a posh private school in the area where he made the varsity baseball team as a freshman and became team captain as a junior. ( fun fact : he was also running back on his high school football team but he wasn’t as good at that. ) credited with leading the team to two championship wins during his captaincy, rumors were swirling as his graduation approached : talk of him being drafted by the mlb right out of high school and he was.
he was chosen as the first round draft pick of the new york yankees in the 2014 mlb draft. he chose to sign with the team right away instead of accepting one of the many offers he had received from universities all over the country, entering the minor leagues where he would be named an all - american athlete and continue adding big numbers to his record.
he was called up to the yankees in 2018 and he was doing great ( although he could do without the constant comparisons to the other carpenter men of baseball ) … until about six months ago, aka when he tore his right ucl ( his elbow ) during spring training. with the injury, surgery, and healing time he would require, it was predicted that he would have to miss most of the season, which has rung true so far. the last six months have been the longest he’s gone without playing baseball since the age of four. he was crushed when he first received the diagnosis, but recently he’s become a lot more impatient and, most prominently, bored.
he needed something that would keep him occupied, but where he wouldn’t be risking undoing any of his healing, so he’s currently coaching his childhood little league team! he should be cleared to return to training soon, and he’s really looking forward to that, but he’s also worried that he’s really gonna miss coaching. :/
nate is married to desirae “dizzy” kim, who lives in his apartment with him. they’ve known each other their entire lives, starting out as best friends who literally lived right next door to each other and then later on developing into high school sweethearts. they’ve been exclusively dating since they were teenagers and finally got married right before moving to astoria, so a about five years ago. despite all of the time that they’ve known each other and been together, most people still think of the pair as being stuck in the honeymoon phase because they’re just so mushy and in love. their friends probably roll their eyes at them all the time, but then they’re also the go - to couple for relationship advice even though they’re not even really good at it.

he’s the go - to call when one of his friends needs help moving furniture or a ride home at two in the morning because he’s the kind of person who’s happy to help and who always follows through when he says that he’s going to do something.
HOWEVER, mistaking his kindness for weakness would be a huge error. he’s a little bit of a pushover, but take it too far and he’ll notice and he won’t just accept it.
the type of person to wake up at 5am to go for a run and just pop a dislocated bone back into place all by himself. he’s tougher than he seems and tougher than he thinks, so this injury situation has been really difficult for him.

— she had a rather mundane childhood. honestly, if you asked her, she would say much of her entire life was and still is mundane and it wouldn’t be far from the truth. her parents were happily married, they made enough to keep the family comfortable but she hardly got everything she wanted. they raised her with a firm but fair hand, and while she wasn’t the daughter who was best friends with her parents, they had a positive enough relationship. she started working at an ice cream stand when she turned sixteen to make some money of her own, and because you learn the most life lessons about humility and patience working retail or in the food industry. her first car was some beat up red sudan almost as old as she was that she bought for $1500.
— academically, she did extremely well, always a bright child even if she didn’t always fully apply herself. she wasn’t the valedictorian or the salutatorian of her class, but she was pretty highly ranked. she couldn’t really tell you why she ended up picking civil engineering as her major at university of michigan - ann arbor, either, only that she didn’t get into most of the ivy leagues her parents had expected her too ( and frankly, she had expected to as well ). it was a wake up call, but not in the sense that it made her put down her head and work harder. no... instead she realized that maybe she didn’t have to be the best because what did it really amount to anyway.
— and so she went through college, doing well in some classes, just mediocre in others ( and in a couple just downright awful — fuck you, differential equations ). she did just enough to stay slightly above average. perhaps she could’ve been in the top percentiles if she just applied herself more, but she never saw reason to. there was a time when she had a plan for her life, but that slowly eroded until she was just thinking about what she had to do next. honestly, if there was anything she learned in college from all those guest speakers it was the fact that you can’t plan life, so why should she ??
— when all was said an done, she graduated from umich with a degree in civil engineering and went off to work for a well-known civil engineering firm that specialized in designing bridges ( a position in part secured by her work for them the previous summer as an intern ). she moved to queens after graduation to work in their new york office and it’s been that way for over a year now.

BACKGROUND:
okay so, matias grew up in provincetown,massachusetts, i know wtf. it was very idyllic, and both his parents were quite happy with the outdoors, with a love for sailing and soccer, and his mom loved gardening, which they had plenty opportunity to do there.
his dad is like aby rosen, real estate tycoon and entrepreneur, owns a lot of prestigious buildings around the world. his mom is a retired supermodel and is basically like chrissy teigen at this point, socialite making cookbooks and fucking dishing out life advice on twitter and what not.
he has a younger sister, whomst he’d 100% throw hands for. even if all she does is probably roast his ass, it is what he deserves. she’s way smarter than him but then again, it’s not that hard.
so although he did live in provincetown and there were plenty fancy private schools in boston and what not, his parents had a designated fancy private/boarding school in new york. so he moved to new york for high school.
matias was always an immense soccer talent and all he dreamed of while growing up was to one day play for the big european teams, like barcelona, manchester, bayern munchen and what not. i wouldn’t say soccer was/is his life, but like it kinda is. it takes up a lot of his time and thoughts. if he’s not playing soccer he’s probably out for a run or in the gym.
so he graduated with a degree in sports management from ucla, cause if his career as a soccer player falls through. especially since he’s had injuries before and knows that certain injuries are career ending and he wants to do something within the sport even when he can’t plau. his dad has always lowkey wanted for him to take over the company but has also never outright not supported matias’ soccer dreams.
currently he’s playing soccer for the new york red bulls, which is a pretty sick deal and he’s just out here vibing to be honest.
PERSONALITY:
so matias is like a walking contradiction. on the outside he’s very grumpy and gives off a very snobby vibe, like he’s too good for you and like talking to you is a waste of time.
i’d say he’s an introverted mind stuck in an extroverted body. he like can’t help but socialize and talk to everyone but it’s not that he really wants to, in reality he’d rather just be left alone or with the few select he doesn’t mind having around. but has this energy that makes people think the opposite and also quite often is found smiling or cracking jokes lol. is rarely ever serious.
generally dislikes people, like immediately he’ll find something to dislike about someone, maybe he’ll be forced to realize it’s bullshit or maybe he’ll find even more to dislike, but he approaches anyone and anything with some level of dislike.
most of the negative shit stems from high school and realizing how shitty people actually are? like don’t get me wrong, he was like the golden boy and he loves attention pls, but high school was definitely where he started to like realize how fake all these rich people are, and like developed this facade to play along with them. definitely changed a lot in high school, least on the outside.
he’s very much a mama’s boy. full of energy and curiosity. honestly, quite caring when it comes down to it, even if he doesn’t actually give a shit, he will try and cheer up a stranger and make sure someone is okay, even if he miserably fails, he will try. very observational??? will notice even the slightest change in people, not always he acts on it or acts the right way on it tho, but yeah.

People call them the COQUET because they’re HONEY TONGUED and CHARMING, but if you ask me, they’re BRASH and CALCULATING. Everyone says they look like PARK JINYOUNG, but I really don’t see it. I really hope they manage to survive the school year.

- Jinsoul wasn’t that lucky, he didn’t get to have his story altered as the it would hit every newspaper in the nation, and every single new channel would be focused on the night that the Hwang family met their grizzly demise,
- A well known family in the media with their rising empire and a reality tv show almost ready to hit the airways, showcasing their life as a couple that was now venturing into the realm of parenthood with their newly born son. Sadly none of it came to pass as they were struck down by the hand of fate, newborn baby Jinsoul being the only survivor.
- It had been a man who broke into their home on Hallow’s Eve, and in the middle of their party enacted the tragedy that would follow the child for the rest of his life.

Kaleb hasn’t ever had much to worry about in life or at least thats how it seems to most looking in. They were always the loud character in class with a wide smile and a wisecrack. The rich kid with the mother that ran the PTA and the father that jetted off on business but always came back with gifts in tow. The confident creature who knew exactly what they wanted when they wanted it and they knew how to get it. It was easy to pretend everything was okay especially when you were maxing out credit cards or being allowed to dabble in whatever strikes your curtain fancy. Things are hardly ever what they seem on the surface.
They have really no emotional control. Can go from completely numb to over feeling in a second depending on their mood. Its hard to learn how to properly control your emotions when your mother is too busy keeping up appearances of a good mother but not really being one and your father isn’t present. This has lead them to be a bit insensitive when they dont know how to process things.
A few facts about Kaleb:
They lost their virginity to a senior boy when they were 14. They were drunk and it seemed like a good idea at the time but they don’t remember much of it besides that he didnt last long and he smelled like moth balls and cigarettes. They tell everyone that it was this magical loving experience where the guy kissed every part of him and went on about how beautiful he was.
They have been known to over indulge in everything, especially when their parents are out of town and no one is there to stop them (though they believe no one would anyway)
Their father doesnt really know how to love someone else so instead they shower Kaleb in gifts to make up for any lack of emotional connection.
They dont feel like they know how to love anyone else either so they continue the pattern of showing their friends with gifts so they won’t realize what a horrible person Kaleb is and leave.
Kaleb has a huge fear of being alone and the dark, though they do not talk about either. Its this reason they invite people to sleepover constantly and have fairy lights that never get turned off in their room.
