hii!! i’m getting an art comm of the three vacker siblings in this pose, but i’ve been stuck on who should go where. i’ve had some people say (top to bottom) biana, fitz, alvar. others said fitz, biana, alvar. and someone else said alvar, biana, fitz. so i was wondering what your interpretation would be based on their characters? 💕
Hii! Okay I've thought it over a little and I think I'm leaning (top to bottom) Biana, Alvar, Fitz. Here's some loose musings, but of course feel free to do whatever you like!
I'm thinking Biana very top because of her invisibility--not literally, but metaphorically. She's the third child, the excluded one. She sees what's going on, but cannot participate. Also, because Alvar thinks she will understand the Vacker legacy, hence open eyes, but covered mouth because HE will be the one to reveal it and is "leading" the way. She's accessory to Alvar's personal rage.
Alvar middle because he's got both eyes and ears blocked, and--crucially--is willingly closing his eyes. The others have things covered, but Alvar's eyes are a personal choice. Which I think you can tie to how clouded his judgement is/was and how it was of his own making and stubbornness/jealousy. Him in the middle of Biana and Fitz I think goes to show how much of an obstacle/presence he is in their life and relationship, too. And their hands over his ears shows not that they want to suppressing him, but that because of their presence Alvar is unwilling to listen, his jealously impairing his reason
Fitz on the bottom with covered eyes because Alvar doesn't believe Fitz will understand the Vacker legacy as Alvar does, so he doesn't even give him a chance. He can talk, but it's blinded, hot air. He's too tied to the prestige. Plus him at the bottom as kind of a foundation, what everything built off of--Alvar's jealousy, Biana's exclusion.
But again! This is just my interpretation! Use as much or as little of it as you'd like--and I'd love to see the commission :)
This just occurred to me, but do you think Poseidon would have any control over the people that die in the sea the same way Ares has control over the people who die on the losing side of a war?
No, he wouldn't.
Ares is all the war, the good, the bad, the bravery, the cowardness. He is the determination to fight, the terror that fills your enemies, the glee in destruction, the instinct to raise your blade. He stands by you in victory and defeat, aiding whomever he is inclined to. He stands by war for wars sake, battle for battles sake. He drifts wherever a war is, be it physical, health, or otherwise. All who participate in war owe themselves to him in some way, winner or loser.
It is because of this, and because he is Divine, that I have no issue with Rick having him calling upon those who were on the losing side of a war. There is no mythos to my knowledge that supports that. The Greeks did not bring the dead back often, and each time it occurred it was a crime against death and punished greatly.
When you died you died, and while grief and desperation and determination of a loved one could give you a chance to return, few none succeeded in such an attempt.
But Poseidon?
Poseidon is the storm of the sea, the crashing waves, the watery depths. He rules the shaking of the Earth and the endless waters that you sail through. His mercy may grant you passage but his rage will be your doom (unless your fate was too survive, in which case he shall make it your misery).
Whether you live or die depends on his mood, depends on his mercy, depends on if you prepared yourself. Those that die owe nothing to him though. He does not stand by all who sail, in life and death, he is what they sail through.
It's different.
this is another art commission i got as part of team wylie in roisin’s reading rumble 2026! this was done by artofananya on instagram. i wanted to get a depiction of the two of them embracing after prentice’s mind was healed, and ananya did an amazing job of capturing the emotion of the scene. hope you guys like it!

for day 4: family of fitz week 2025!! some of you may have seen the original ask i sent @bookwyrminspiration about this commission idea, which is what this commission was based on. i got this commissioned from microplaid on instagram, and they did such an amazing job with it. i'm in love with how it turned out! the vacker siblings' dynamics are some of my favorite in the entire series, and i just think it's so interesting and reveals so much about their characters.
in case there's any confusion, the order from top to bottom is biana, alvar, and fitz. i'm going to include the original photo the pose was based on under the cut.

i got this commission from _enuaj on instagram for team wylie in roisin’s reading rumble! it’s based on the animal he was given in team valiant, the wyvern. i wanted to show him in a fancy nobility getup (sans the cape), using his powers. it turned out amazing, so i hope you guys enjoy it!! <3

[Gethen's] gaze shifted to Alvar. “Perhaps I’m trying to see if we recruited the wrong Vacker.”
for day 5: fluff/angst of fitz week 2025, titled The Wrong Vacker. i got this commissioned from kkelsey__spring on instagram. she was great to work with, and the piece came out so beautiful! it was really important to capture the emotion and tension in fitz's expression, and she did it perfectly.
this piece is meant to depict fitz in book 7: flashback (with some creative liberties taken because it's been a while since i've read it) during the confrontation between him and alvar towards the end of the book. i really wanted to capture the duality of fitz's anger and grief stacked against his morals and upbringing — the dark trees surrounding him, everglen distant and unreachable, attire befitting of a true vacker while a dagger gleams in his hand. the tears running down his face, the anger in his eyes, his traitor brother in front of him, the vacker legacy within reach, the pressure of being the golden boy. that kind of external vs. internal battle is my favorite thing about fitz's character, and i wanted to capture that here.
