What does one buy a friend for Valentine’s Day? Isaac pondered as he perused the aisles of various stores. Sure, it was sheer coincidence and timing that they’d made plans to hang out just a day after the festival of love, and he was in no way obliged to buy her something, but he wanted to. She had delivered something for him, and now that they were friends again, he had wanted to get her something, anyway. She was the one part of his old life in the Isle, other than his sister, that he didn’t want to let go of.
Eventually he found a little vintage music store and settled on a rock compilation vinyl. He struggled to fit the thing in his backpack but managed to with a bit of help from the shop assistant. He also selected a card from a nearby card store: “To a dear friend on Valentine’s Day.”
As he approached their meeting place at the train station, his heart was racing. What would he even say to her, after all these years? Sure, she seemed like she was over everything, that she’d forgiven him for how coldly he had cut her out of his life, but was she? He hoped, with the itinerary he had planned of landmarks just outside of Auradon City, they’d be too distracted to get in to any deep conversations about their past.
As he approached her at the station, though, he realized deep down that maybe he did want to talk about what had happened.
