“Something I find cute about you?” Hana blinked, a little surprised by the question. “Hmm.... You know what? I think it’s cute how even though you have this confident air about you when we talk about certain things, I can still sense a bit a nervousness from you, like your worried about what you said or how I’ll react even though everything you do puts the biggest smile on my face,” she laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a kiss on his cheek.

Hana’s first instinct was to tense up- a flood of memories rushed to the forefront of her mind and none of them were good. Even those with Daichi. Every time Daichi and Hana had been this close, had started something, she would quietly retreat, Zinger taking over. But this was different. Everything about it was different. There was no Zinger. It was just her. Just her and him. 

Her back flat against the wall, his body gently trapping her against him, the pain from his teeth on her neck. Every nerve in her body sparked, every hair stood on end. Her heart was beating quickly but not out of fear or disgust or attempting to disappear. 

Was that excitement? Was that what was she was feeling? It was strange, to feel so excited in this type of situation. She wasn’t sure how to react, what to do, to let him know that it was Hana so completely lost in that moment with him and nobody else. Just her. And him.

The sigh that left her lips was annoyance, regret maybe?

Zinger never really made true appearances anymore. Not really. Hana would just get a feeling, an urge. She used to ignore them, try to fight them, but eventually she just gave up, did as the sensation led her to do. They never usually hit when she was with Daichi, to his benefit. Until now, that is. Until the knife play went just a bit wrong as she pressed against his back. Until Hana pressed a little to deeply with the tip of the blade resting against his neck.

Pressed it past the first layer of broken flesh, the fat, the muscle, the nerves and tendons and ligaments, slicing and nicking veins and the shock and surprise tried to bubble out of his throat, mixing with the blood that was filling the hole that was made.

She loved him. She truly did. Him, the life they had started together, everything. And yet here she was, lying him back, staring at the the pleading and questions on his face and in his eyes, unable to answer the question to herself let alone for him.

She loved him.

And now she was watching that love die.

Hana kinda stared when Daichi came into the room after she had called for him. He was asking her what she wanted but…. she couldn’t find the words. She was grinning wide, almost bouncing. She quickly rushed over to him taking one of his hands in both of hers and putting it to her stomach, putting her hands on top of his shortly after. She looked up at him, nodding the whole time, not even able to speak in a language he recognized. 

“Je suis enceinte! Amour, je suis enceinte!”

After reading how fireplaces were one of the many symbols of Christmas, Minseok was more than excited to make one in preparation. He spent the day scavenging around the asylum in search or matches or a lighter, all of his being confiscated as soon as he passed the doors. The boy pouted as it seemed no one he knew was around to help supply him. However, when passing one of the resident’s slightly opened doors, he had the faint smell of a lighter and maybe even some cigarettes. Minseok perked up immediately and quickly ran to the door, knocking on it excitedly.

She had picked up on it when they had first met but Hanbyul wanted to be absolutely sure. They hadn’t worked together but Daichi was familiar. She kept going back to the news of a merger a company had done with a Japanese modeling agency. There were a lot of new models and actors that were added to the company’s roster and she thought that Daichi was one of those new faces but she really wanted to make sure. 

She had the twins with her, only there to pick up a few things and go through some mail at the nurses’ station and Daichi passing by was an opportunity to confirm her sleuthing.

“Hey, Daichi. Were you blonde at one point.....?”

Hana had the ring box in her hand.

And he had been standing outside Daichi’s door for a few minutes at this point. There were somethings that were coming back to the forefront of her memory that she wanted to talk to him about. Dr. Yoon had encouraged her in sessions to stick with the memories and work through them and she figured it was time to let Daichi in on the things she was starting to remember, if it were only pieces.

She also wanted to give the ring back. She wanted him to have the chance to give it to her for real this time. 

She took a deep breath and finally knocked on the door. “Daichi..... are you in there?”

“Oh, sweetie, you remember your aunt and uncle…. Don’t be shy.” Hana laughed softly as the small child reached to be picked up by their father, Hana herself being too pregnant to bend down properly.

Jun tried to look offended at the child being shy around him and Minji, his wife only shaking her head as their own little one was hiding behind her, taking peeks at Hana and Daichi.
