Hello! I am curious if you know of any links between alchemy and 1) towers 2) weaving.
thank you :)
Yes, tower is a common symbol in alchemy; "tower" even has its own entry in Lyndy Abraham's Dictionary. Tower is "a synonym for the athanor or philosophical furnace" (Abraham, p. 203). The glass vessel, the alembic into which the alchemist's ingredients are placed, is itself placed in a tower/athanor/furnace to be gently heated.
Many protagonists of alchemy stories are placed by the authors in towers as they undergo their adventures and transformations: Maria in the Little White Horse, Harry Potter in the Gryffindor Tower, Jaime Lannister in the White Tower in ASOIAF. "Castle" is another synonym for the athanor; Castle Black is where Jon Snow undergoes the nigredo (black stage) of his transformation in ASOIAF.
2. I haven't come across any examples of weaving symbolism in alchemy stories. The closest would be the spinning wheel in Sleeping Beauty, but there it's the wheel that is the symbol (for the alchemical process in its entirety). But spinning is not weaving, and I've yet to see any alchemical imagery featuring a loom.
One of the best known images of "women's work" is the plate in Splendor Solis of women doing laundry.
This illustrates the sublimation, cleansing, stage of the opus.
Karnak: looks like we can´t mansplain, manipulate, male wife our way out of this one… Anubis: MANSLAUGHTER IT IS THEN! Thoth: Meh, I´ll keep mansplaining this guy. Sekhmet: Wait! Who is a male wife?? Athanor [sweating nerviossly]:

I noticed a new power pop compilation is being released next month. Titled Looking for the Magic: American Power Pop in the Seventies. I recognized a good number of the songs but this one was new to me, so I gave it a listen and I was rewarded with a very Beatles influenced tune from a duo from Chicago. Good stuff.

Today, new moon, many preparations that begin their way.
Maceration of fly agaric in lard, to make an ointment. The Soma, which I intend to try in honor of @graveyarddirt , for the solstice ritual.
Maceration of black henbane seeds (white henbane seeds are coming, @graveyarddirt 🖤), in order to make a shapeshift ointment, to share with Skal and Dirty for future Mother's Nights. I also intend to try to make my personal preparation of ungentum populeum.
Start another maceration of an eau-de-vie made from lime blossom, which in my region of France is called "ratafia", and which I make in honor of my Grandfather. It will be dedicated to trance work and communication with Ancestors.
Any preparation, any allied plant is sung and praised with devotion. Offerings are made and mixed with the spoon of the Great Mothers' Night.
Been a while since I upload something, so have a request + color practice.
