This episode continues the pattern of Asides mirroring recent plot developments

We had Are There Healthy Distractions right after Virgil’s Dark Side reveal, and the central conflict was Thomas’ initially negative reaction to one of Thomas’ friends revealing something unsavory about their past, complete with Thomas delivering a monologue to an upset Virgil about how it’ll take time to adjust but they’ll be okay.

And now we have Flirting with Social Anxiety right after Janus’ acceptance and subsequent fallout with Roman, which centers around Roman and Virgil repeatedly reproaching Thomas for lying and asking if this is how he’s going to solve all his problems now.
