Theres something very special to me about WTIT (and FWSA to a lesser extent) because we really get to see how the sides' struggles manifest in Thomas' real life. He is struggiling he is alone he is awkward hes desperate for connection. But we never see these struggles because so many of them are social.

Because c!Thomas plays a larger role in the episodes, we can see how his internal struggles bar him from connecting with people and living his life. It's an aspect of his life that normally we dont get to explore BECAUSE his coping mechanisms involve self-isolating and working through problems internally.

But ironically, thats PART of the reason he is so alone, because he doesn't reach out and talk to others as often as he should.

The idea that he should talk to Nico at the end of WIDS is a revelation! It was genuinly not something he had been considering. But because thats outside of the scope of the show, its not something the audience considers either!

The format of Sanders Sides really conceals c!Thomas' fundamental problem, which is feeling alone, in such a subtly devastating way.

cute fwsa moment no one talks about

(virgil opening up a bit and being honest with roman because he's not trying to fight roman, they want the same thing, he's trying to work together)

virgil: if you go in cold turkey, you might chicken out.

roman: birdbrains right!

thomas: whoa, easy, roman.

roman: what? he's got birds on the brian! you don't want to winge it, virge, alright! let's drum up something to say!

like like like omg. a. i love every time roman calls virgil by his name or virge because that's so cute, yes ofc nicknames are their thing but like this isn't even him playfully making fun of him, he's just genuinely accepting virgil's input and going "okay, let's work with that. i will work with you." and then he uses the bird puns to make virgil feel better i'm crying and dying
