oh noooooooooo yeah, that’s a bit... grim lol.  what did you end up doing?  (i ended up touching my face to demonstrate “wiping away tears” in the last video i did and i submitted it for editing anyway but i’m still thinking about it; my favorite song to open with starts, “well hello everybody, can you touch your nose?” and i’ve had to ditch it entirely)

Should be under 10 minutes and must be under 10 minutes are different things. Keep the bioluminescence and the parrotfish mucus and the nudibranchs!

I mean, I’m gonna!  Maybe I’ll just try to talk faster lol.  no, that’s not a solution.  idk i have so much to say about sea creatures!!!  my shortest run so far has been 13 minutes and that has included a little backtracking and rewording, but not 3-4 minutes’ worth.

For Yuuri's music- maybe something by Ikuma Dan? (He composed the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Overture and his most popular/regularly performed opera is titled Yūzuru [The Crane Wife, but also lol]) or Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man (cliche, but for good reason). Adele's Hometown Glory has always struck me for a Yuuri song as well!

Thanks! Does Ikuma Dan have any stuff from female vocalists? That’s what I’m trying to go for with his SP. As for Copeland; His FS is Mussorgsky, and I’d like to not use two pieces of classical music just to mix it up.

Re: why mafia Au is popular- I get why a lot of people don't like it (personally I don't read/write) but it is one of the few that actually have decent reason to exist bc there really was a Viktor Nikiforov (nicknamed Kalina) who was a notorious criminal in the Russian mob, the son of a boss, and who was killed by another famous criminal. So there's at least precedence if nothing else going for that particular Au lol.

but then like... right, there’s the name coincidence. and then there are yoi fans who got into figure skating and keep commenting (and i agree it’s really annoying) “wow just like yuuri!” on yuzuru hanyu’s fs videos and people in the fandom get rightfully annoyed by it... and then there’s this guy in organized crime that shares victor’s name and people don’t even bat an eyelash at it. 

like one thing is an annoying but harmless comparison between a fictional character and a real athlete. the other is taking a historic criminal guy who shares names with a good fictional character and distorting a perfectly good and healthy relationship for the sake of edginess? 

why not make the yoi au where victor nikiforov is a researcher or a hockey player they’re much more harmless lmao

idk i’m pretty much ranting on this but like... i don’t think it’s good, either of them.

Okay but Viktor totally skated to a Fiddler on the Roof medley at some point right. (I've been lowkey Emo about Viktor + Far From The Home I Love for a couple weeks now oH boy.)

i’m a fake theatre kid because i’m not actually familiar with fiddler on the roof but victor is definitely familiar with every showtune and every medley possible and also i just looked up the song and oh my god, oh my god please?? 

victor goes through his theatre longing love song phase when he’s eighteen after a breakup with his first boyfriend (the relationship lasted a summer but it was a whirlwind romance okay it was his first love) and yakov wants to cry but fuq you yakov. so does victor ok

yep, that's what I found when I looked, too....a whole lot of nothing :-/ it's probably my browser but I've got too much invested in this one lol                    

i tried switching browsers and was still stuck.  at least we can be Just Lucky, I Guess :/, together! :/

Hello! For FFWF- what's your favorite random fact you've learned while researching for a fic? :)

Hi! This is a little late, but happy FFWF!

This is kind of random, but I love that I learned butter tea tastes salty. I've written or referenced an Air Nomad version of Tibetan butter tea so many times in fic and for Mark of the Living I needed to know what it tastes like because I've never tried it myself before.

I had heard of it previously and always kind of had a taste in my head. I imagined it creamy and pleasantly sweet, but when I looked it up and saw that it was an unexpected and acquired taste that was salty, it just kind of shocked me a little. It's just a nice fun fact to me 😅
