@xwolfbonds // Gideon & Scott
Gideon walked past the metal statue of Toph that was situated in front of the police headquarters. It was a reminder of the progress Republic City had made within the past century. A large part of that progress was due to Toph, and now even her daughter. Lin had taken a particular liking to Gideon with his advanced proficiency with earthbending. That interest had led her to shoulder-tap the boy for joining the police force here. And through her mentorship, he’d even learned the ability of seismic sensing. That with the new metalbending techniques of the police force had certainly made a difference. Gideon was now one of the most decorated members of the force. But even Lin couldn’t figure out why the boy was so proficient with earthbending.
The young recruit wasn’t sure why he was so gifted. It wasn’t known to him the spirit that he held deep within his body. There were certainly times he felt as though things were different for him. The dreams he had at night, waking up in a cold sweat. He’d get flashes of someone else’s life. It was as though Gideon was reliving it, however that was possible. And even though he hadn’t told Lin about it, he’d discovered that he was even able to bend lava. It was a feat that few had accomplished. Avatar Kyoshi, Bolin, and that crazy guy Ghazan. Gideon never used it outside of instances of complete privacy.
A roaming spirit drew his attention, Gideon now looking up at it. There was a pull to it, something more than just seeing it. A part of him was drawn to the spirit above, which he found odd. Although for as long as he could remember, that was the feeling he had for the spirits that had become so integrated within their society. Perhaps that was another thing that worried him about himself. It was something no one else talked about or mentioned. Was he alone in that sensation? While he was staring, he noticed someone nearing him out of the corner of his eye. “Hello,” he offered to the stranger.
