“ i thought she killed you. “

Penny drops gracefully to her feet in the center of the colosseum, brushing off the snow and shaking it out of her hair. With Winter secure, she had been sent to retrieve General Ironwood's abandoned weapon: it's technically Atlas military property, after all, and the cold would do him serious damage if he tried to come back for it now.
Given what Penny knows now, though, she wonders if that's even true.
She doesn't like it here. She has... bad memories of this place. She had tried to go along with... her father... when he joked about what had happened here, and she would smile and laugh at the jokes, because she’d known he didn’t mean it to hurt her -- just to remind her that she was okay now. But she had never liked being inside of Amity, so they had never made her go into it before. Why would they send her now?
Still... orders are orders. So, she sets to searching, scanning for gravity dust ammunition, weapons that aren't supposed to be here, anything too severely out of place. But that's very hard, since everything seems to have been moved recently. General Ironwood said that he'd fought in here, is that why the arena looks like this?

“pathetic.” arthur stands above tyrian in the arena, his figure blocking out the light from the moon above and casting the hunter in shadow. his eyes glow just slightly in the dim light. he sneers. “bested by a c h i l d the same as cinder.” his gaze moves to the stunted tail sat curled behind tyrian, still bleeding and certainly painful.
he rolls his eyes and pushes past tyrian, harshly grabbing him by the shoulder to pick him up off his feet. “stop throwing your tantrum. you managed to make it all the way here, you can walk to the medbay.” he hisses. “had i known this damned little girl was going to cause so many problems, i would have been on my knees to salem asking her to send me instead.”
he scoffs as he starts up the stairs. “she wants a new tail for you. how lucky you are.” he mutters. “do try to keep up. i’m sure you’re d y i n g for pain medication at the moment and you and i both know you can’t break the lock i have on the cabinet.”
A low, broken whine left Tyrian’s parted lips as the doctor grasped onto his shoulder, and it was followed by a hiss of pain as he was forced into a standing position. Still hunched over on himself, the scorpion kept his tail close to his body to avoid any further trauma coming to its bleeding end. The pain of the brutal amputation managed to crawl up his spine and to the base of his neck, and every unnecessary movement felt like knives in his back.
Ashamed and exhausted, Tyrian kept quiet in response to Arthur’s irritated commentary. He already knew it was pathetic to have come back empty handed, to have been maimed by nothing more than a child. He was supposed to be better than that. Despite everything, Arthur was right—Tyrian was desperate for some sort of relief from the pain.
Every step was hell, but he scampered on behind Watts while biting down hard on his tongue. “Arthur,” he whispered, fearful his voice would waver if he spoke aloud. “Just be careful, my spine-”

“I’ll be in when I can. This is going to take another few hours. ... I love you too. Don’t wait up. ... oh. Well, be careful down there, please. I’ll see you at home.”
The paperwork had taken him all of an additional two hours: students originally from Mantle whose parents were trying to pull them from school, though only some of them were still under their parents’ influence, legally.
But finally, he rises from behind his desk, makes his way toward the office door, intent to go home, settle down for the night, and wait for Qrow to come back from his business in Mantle. He hadn’t realized how late it’s gotten, and frowns when he sees that how dark the stairwell is.
Right, Lights Out was awhile ago by now, wasn’t it?
This is fine. It’s not too dark for him to see, not really. He pauses in order to allow both of his eyes to adjust to the darkness, frowning a little deeper when his right eye takes a bit longer than usual to focus on the point beyond the doors he’s chosen to look at to make sure they’ve adjusted. Is there something there?
It doesn’t seem like a student. One of the Knights? They shouldn’t be in here: he doesn’t permit the Knights so close to his office, no robotic personnel at all except Penny. And it’s not possible that it could be Penny, she’s powered down for the night, isn’t she? Pietro had set her a bedtime like any normal child, he remembers.
“Soldier, return to your storage bay for the night. This part of the academy is off-limits.”

🥃 + why kill ozpin but jail me? do you see me as an equal? what makes me so special that i should live? we both know if i were to go through a trial that i would be given a death sentence anyway, and no one would have faulted you for killing me before. so why?
❝ Don’t delude yourself, Watts. You’re only alive because you have information I can use. Nothing more, nothing less. ❞
❝ i have to know. what do you hope to gain from this, arthur ? ❞ the anger ( if one could even call it that, a harsh shadow of what an emotion should be ) in his voice threatens to rise. ❝ how do you come out of this on top ? she’ll kill everything, even you. ❞
