Etienne laughs a little. “What’s irritating me? Well, I ran into Jikhaa at that festival and he was his usual laconic self, so I dragged almost nothing out of him before I had to leave. I wouldn’t exactly call it irritating, but we do like to do just the exact opposite of what the other person likes to interact with. It’s... almost endearing that he still wants to be friends despite that.” Etienne laughs, shaking their head. “I think he does still wish to be friends? I suppose he makes me a little self-conscious, and I’ve never gotten over that. At least Miss Azena was as lovely as I remember. I shall have to corner them both again soon.”

A pause, and then suddenly: “Wait! I know what’s worse than that! I heard the imps aren’t coming around this year for All Saint’s Wake. Does that mean there won’t be decorations? Oh, how disappointing!”

Adi rolls his eyes. “Telesphore was in a temper this morning and didn’t want to take his potions. He always acts like a child when he’s hurting the worst, and then acts angry at me because I’ve witnessed it.”

He glances around. “...Kind of bummed out about All Saint’s Wake too. Eh. Not like I’m going to be making it out to any parties.”

Houmei leans in to whisper a secret.

“...Domo talks in his sleep. Sometimes about the most disturbing things. He talks about sleeping at the bottom of a lake, and how he’s a great lake Dragon. It’s a little disturbing!”

⭐ What is your OC afraid of? Any crippling phobias or some such? How do they act when scared and what helps them calm down? Does anyone ever find your OC scary? Why?

Honestly, Severine is afraid of a lot of things. Her fear also registers as dislike or in some cases, hate.  She’s scared of Black Mages. She’s scared of voidsent. She’s afraid of watching people be killed or hurt in front of her and not being able to do anything to help.  She’s terrified of being a liability or the reason that someone gets injured or killed.  Luckily her fear is rarely so crippling that she can’t act. Instead she’s usually spurred into panicked action, trying to do her best to end the situation or, if that’s beyond her, to put as much distance as possible between her and the source of her fear.  There was a time when people were terrified of her but that was a long time ago and not something she’s interested in revisiting.  If people find her scary now, it’s probably because she can completely change herself at the drop of a hat. She can shift her posture, her expression, her accent and become a different person. She can bully, cajole, promise, lie, and threaten sometimes without words and get exactly what she wants. Very few people have actually seen her do this, but she’s a chameleon who can go back to being unassuming and charming without batting an eye.  Thank you, @atomicdeke!

Oh, this is a tough one.

As a small child Rhys looked up to his grandfather for a variety of reasons: he was everything Rhys wanted to be, strong and not just in a physical sense, loved and accepted. 

During his teens it was people like @entropytea‘s Gavril and Ulrike, and @stormandozone‘s Avenai. They were such kind and good people, ones who were just themselves and so Rhys was attracted to them 

Now? I can’t really think of anyone that Rhys looks up to. @thanidiel‘s Xiaohu, maybe? @astrolevitation‘s Esen in terms of how she’s adapted to being far from home and in a new place. @atomicdeke‘s Vander in an odd way. @cynfuldax‘s Oosra even if he’s MEAN.

He’d deny these, keep in mind.

Probably the stab wound inflicted by a certain Xaela. It was horrible.

When it comes to Vander, there’s a long stretch of silencewhere no answer is forthcoming. He takes a long sip of his drink, as though tryingto stall his reply further. Eventually he sighs, “At least he is… predictablyantagonistic. I suppose that is better than having to guess every time he comesinto the room if he is going to be… like that… or not.” His brow furrows, hefrowns deeply, and lets out another sigh. “We did have one decent talk, Isuppose. I’m not sure I trust it.”

Deep underground, you smell rain.

The musty, stale scent of ancient caves is flooded with petrichor. The roots shift in the walls, noises like the tightening of a fist in a leather glove. They've surrounded you this whole time, those bone-white roots, but now they're moving. The walls roil and shift, clumps of dirt pattering on the floor around you from the walls and ceiling.

The thin, slouching figure of an elezen grows out of the floor just before you: a pale outline of ghostly roots, the hair on its head growing out of delicate leaves. The eye sockets are hollow, but out of the right eye, a flower grows.

Everywhere, the flowers blossom white and red. The blooms glow faintly. They smell like dust, but still, beneath that scent: the rain. Adi's voice sounds like the rain, too, and he whispers to you:

"You should turn back. Turn back now."
