The Untied Slavic Kingdom: a place of diversity two different worlds under the same name
The United Slavic Kingdom: DON’T LET THE ROYALS GET YOU DOWN
His parents were from the North, all the way from Manitoba where it was full of lakes and icy cold. But Richard was born in the South, in the Louisiana region, where there were proper seasons, and sunshine, and the occasional hurricane they had to go to a reinforced basement for.
Rori I, Book 1B
The Palace which is home to the Slavic Royal Family in the ATWE universe is named after the Fortress Tsarevets in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria.
V. Tarnovo is one of the oldest settlements in Bulgaria; inhabited since 3rd millennium BC, it became the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. Its Fortress Tsarevets housed both the patriarchal and the royal palaces.
Today, it is a popular tourist attraction.
In the ATWE Universe, Regina is the capital city of the Latin Republic. It is the administrative and economic center of the country. It is the fourth location chosen for capital, the previous including Washington, Ottawa, and Austin. They were moved after each the cities fell victim to airstrikes numerous times.
From Wikipedia: “Regina is the capital city of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The city is the second-largest in the province, after Saskatoon, and a cultural and commercial centre for southern Saskatchewan. It is governed by Regina City Council. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Sherwood No. 159.Regina was previously the seat of government of the North-West Territories, of which the current provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta originally formed part, and of the District of Assiniboia.”
The first scene of Book 1A - Republic’s Chosen - is set near Eureka, Nunavut, Canada.
From Wikipedia: Eureka is a small research base on Fosheim Peninsula, Ellesmere Island, Qikiqtaaluk Region, in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. It is located on the north side of Slidre Fiord, which enters Eureka Sound farther west. It is the third-northernmost permanent research community in the world.
Eureka was founded on April 11, 1947, as part of a requirement to set up a network of Arctic weather stations. On this date, 100 tonnes (98 long tons; 110 short tons) of supplies were airlifted to a promising spot on Ellesmere Island, and five prefabricated Jamesway huts were constructed. Regular weather observations began on January 1, 1948. The station has expanded over the years. At its peak, in the 1970s, at least fifteen staff were on site; in 2005, it reported a permanent population of zero with at least 8 staff on a continuous rotational basis.
