Battle Nexus: Oops! All Red Sons

Hey friends, so way way waaay back in the day when I was new to the LMK fandom, I did a Battle Nexus style tourney for all the various Red Sons from the AUs I’d made so far. In that one, I came up with the winner on my own based on the characters and who I thought would come out on top. But now, Tumblr has polls! And a sweet anon this past week suggested I do it again. So, here we are :U

Anyway, I’m going to post each of the above matchups in a one day poll and you guys get to decide who would win in a fight! Links for the matchups will be below- treat this as a masterpost to find the links. I’ll also include little descriptions of each Red Son variant in the poll itself and include their relevant tag for my blog in case you don’t know them.

Round One:

Red Boy vs Prince Red… WINNER: Red Boy

Time Travel Red Son vs MMRS Red Son… WINNER: Time Travel Red Son

Bull Red Son vs Red Son… WINNER: Red Son

Demon King Red vs Dragon Red… WINNER: Demon King Red

Round one went almost how I thought it would, with a surprise win from canon Red Son over Bull Red Son! It was also super fun to see what people had to say about why they voted a certain way or how they thought it would turn out.

Round Two:

Red Boy vs. Time Travel Red Son… WINNER: Red Boy

Red Son vs. Demon King Red… WINNER: Red Son

While I did expect Red Boy to make it to the finals, I’m quite surprised that so many people are picking canon Red Son over his opponents! I guess it could be chalked up to how much everybody loves Red Son so much, although everyone hating King Red and thinking he shouldn’t win is also a possibility (either that or ya’ll are just not reading that this is who would win a fight not who you like more lol)

Anyway, on to the final event,

Round Three:

Red Boy vs. Red Son… WINNER: Red Boy

Ooh it got a little hairy there for a bit, the tide turned a few times but ultimate, the winner is… Red Boy!

This is both appropriate and hilarious. I am sure all of the Red Sons are very mad that they were beat by a literal toddler haha.. Thanks for voting everyone, it was really fun to see what everyone thought of all the different Red Sons 💖

Swapfell and Dancetale lol

You really like dance universes huh?

This one is a favorite of mine (because swapfell is my favorite au in general). Danceswapfell is just as volatile and deadly as swapfell, but with so much more style. The Underground is always echoing with battle music that makes you want to move. Although, you should probably be running if anything.

Life underground is all neon lights and flashy moves. If you can win a fight that’s fine, but if you look good doing it then you’re respected. Monsters that go off-beat during an encounter are likely to lose, so staying steady on your feet is key.

Sans in particular is known for radiating his signature music as he walks around, even outside of battle. If you happen to get into an encounter, you’ll have to dance with him if you want any chance of winning. He could win right away, but that’s not very sporting of him, is it? He likes to have some fun first. Avoid letting him pull you into a dip though, that’s usually his final attack. Looks good to strike a pose at the same moment you win the fight.

Danceswapfell Papyrus is similar, with much more confidence in encounters than sf!Papyrus. He’s still not big on fighting, but it’s hard to tell the difference when any attack is paired with a dance move. Add enough flourish and everyone will just think they get lucky when they make it out alive. He’d love to dance with someone just for the sake of dancing though.

Is it alright to make Au fusions that include Inverted fate? Or does that count as an alternate IF?

Hmm, my main preferences with mixing IF w/ other AUs is: - No dust AUs - No personality swap AUs - No AUs that straightwash undyne or have ships like Fr*ns, F*ntcest, etc - Preferably no geno-only AUs or AUs that apply binary/cis genders to the NB characters But I obviously can't control what people do and these are more "these aren't things I'm keen on mixing with IF". A big thing, too, is that I feel like IF and AU combos is much, much harder to do well because IF is an AU that's more than a loose concept and design. Everything has a specific purpose in IF and if you tried to apply IF logic to another AU, you'd get something wholly removed from both the original AUs. Which is good! I'd much rather that than a lazy IF reskin.

Also, make it clear that it's unofficial, etc, etc. Now, IF in crossovers, I am also fine with with a few caveats: - Please, PLEASE read the comic and actually try to represent the AU accurately - Don't use my AU just for angst fodder and kill everyone off to prop up some big bad edgy Sans or something - Make it VERY clear that it is unofficial and noncanon

So there was an ask on @purble-turble channel how the mks and even some of the red son would swoon for TT Red since he loves mk but also does everything in his power to prevent himself from becoming his twisted and warped future counter part; demon king red. I really liked that and I wanted to materialize that love. And here it is!

Life on a pirate ship is dangerous, but when you start adding monsters, it only gets worse. Person A has only been a crew member for around a week when they get into their first battle. Since they are so new, they are stuck protecting the ship’s carpenter, Person B, rather than fighting. Everything is going well, until the opposing crew releases a savage vampire onto the deck of A and B’s ship, and B is attacked, and turned. Now, A is on the chopping block for letting B get hurt, and B is struggling with their new state as the living dead.

Finally finished another one of these commissions! This one is for @wakeup-doshit-gotosleep, who asked for my take on their designs of what the MK2 would look like... in the Poly MK AU (with Pacifica thrown in for good measure)! Hence we got a whole bunch of original kiddos here, all of which are loosely related to each other even though they all have different parents (like seriously most of these kids are half sibblings in some way). So starting from the middle we have Craig (Steven and Connie’s son), then beside him is Daisy (Dipper and Connie’s daughter), continuing with the girls there’s Lacy (Mabel and Steven’s daughter), and then Willow (Steven and Pacifica’s daughter), going back over to the boys there’s Toby (Dipper and Pacifica’s son), and then finally Ashton (Steven and Pacifica’s son, Willow’s twin bro). So yeah these are all pretty interesting designs and they were fun to tackle! I gotta say I enjoyed this one a lot! Now I’m off to do even more commissions in what little goddamn time I currently have on my hands smh ugghggh

How would an Inverted Fate version of Name The Fallen work?

Honestly? It wouldn't. The way the IF world was made necessitates that Frisk, Chara, and Flowey are in the exact narrative positions as they are in IF. I love NTF, but it's not an AU that's 'compatible' with IF in terms of an AU fusion.
