I did a major computer upgrade for Battlefield V which involved a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and an unplanned purchase of a new power supply.
It’s taken 18 years, but I knew this day would eventually come. The new motherboard I bought does not have a PCI slot for this sound card.
Honestly I don’t even know what it does anymore, but I’ve never felt a reason to get rid of it. It still works perfectly fine, and I always figured that it’s probably better than onboard audio for some audiophile reason I can only guess at.
What’s more significant is that this sound card is the longest running thread in the Ship of Theseus that is my computer. Despite it having moved through many different motherboards, CPUs, GPUs, cases, etc, there’s always been at least one part that gets carried over. I honestly don’t know the last time I had a completely new computer from scratch, but this sound card has been there since almost the very beginning.
I’ll miss you Soundblaster Audigy.
