A.I Art and it's relation to photography
I’m here to present to you, Artificial intelligence and it’s relation to image based art. I’ll also show you some images I took and compare them with A.I and generative fill
What does AI do with photography? One may assume that it would involve AI using cameras and some sort of information to produce an image, and while that is almost right, There’s a bit more to it.
AI imagery can be made entirely by machines, or you can type a prompt on an AI software to generate an image. These prompts will either pull references from other art styles (Imagine.art or midjourney) to produce their an image or use their own servers to fill an image with data
(Adobe Photoshop’s generative fill)
Writing vs. photography
In traditional photography, a Photographer would have to physically travel to a location, or go to a studio to take a photo of a subject using a digital or film camera.
In terms of AI, a human can type a prompt into a program to generate an image on a blank screen without ever leaving the computer.
You can also blend the two together by generating images to a digital photograph
The uncanny valley
It's a feeling of being close, but not quite human. There’s a feeling when one looks at a very lifelike robot and somehow gets an eerie feeling. That also applies to AI. It can only generate approximations of humans as of now.
Here are some images I took with my digital camera, and the same images were used with generative fill to make new photos.
conclusion
In conclusion, A.I is becoming more and more advanced in photography and image generation. Software like Adobe has been improving its A.I as well as their algorithm to allow artists create more from writing as well. We can learn a lot from it’s capabilities in photography and many other mediums of art
