I have my first college audition coming up in September.

The show I'm auditioning for is "Cabaret" and I haven't auditioned for a show in 4 years. I need a 60 second monologue from a 20th century play and 32 bars from a musical of my choice. Help!

it's Jane Austen's version adapted by Janet Munsil!

For this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice,  I’d look at other adaptations of classic material.  If you can get your hands on it Kate Hamill’s Sense and Sensibility will most likely have some excellent choices for monologues (I don’t have access to a copy or I’d be able to be more specific). Any dramatic monologues about having a parent not loving you/accepting you? short or long, monologue or anything from a book, anything please!!!!

I don’t know which gender you need the piece for so I’m gonna try to include a range. Some of these are quite as precise as the topic you gave, but I tried to get as close as possible.

I use lotion on my hands twice a day. Some might call it obsessive. I am obsessed, but not with my own vanity. Instead, with the utter beauty of the most incredible man I have ever met.

The love of my life works twelve hours a day, six days a week. It’s difficult, and it’s long, and it’s labor. Still, he makes the effort afterwards to treat me like royalty. His rough hands massage mine as I tell him about my day. He has made it clear through words and actions that I am his favorite person. I am his motivation when his alarms go off before 5:00am and the way he relaxes after a tiring day. And he loves me. He.. loves me. And I love him.

So when I reach out and cradle that precious, exhausted, awestruck face in my hands, I want it to be perfect for him. I need to stay soft — for someone who can’t.

I'm auditioning for Belle from Beauty and the Beast for my high school production. Do you have monologue suggestions?

Take a look at Maggie's monologue from The Loud Red Patrick. She has a lot of the same fiery spirit as Belle (though a little less mature).

You could also try Joy Ride's Monologue from The Roller Derby Play it's also got that same indomitable thing that Belle has going on.
