- Both carry a dark, destructive power within them that they cannot control and that makes them targets of other people's interests.

- Grooming/manipulation by an older person who pretends to be someone else and wants to use Credence/Tyler as a henchman or weapon.
--> Credence: Gellert Grindelwald in the guise of Percival Graves.
--> Tyler: Marilyn Thornhill, who is actually Laurel Gates.
Credence's Obscurus and Tyler's Hyde are both used as weapons and set upon certain people for revenge
--> Grindelwald demanded that Credence kill Albus Dumbledore
--> Laurel demanded that Tyler kill Wednesday
(And Isaac also wanted revenge on the Addams Family and used Tyler as his henchman)
- Neglect/abuse by guardians
--> For Credence, it is his adoptive mother Mary Lou Barebone (neglect and abuse)
--> for Tyler, it is his father Donovan (neglect) and his mother Francoise (abuse)
- Temporary happiness through experiencing friendship and connection with a female character they fall in love with and who later abandons them in a way

--> Tyler is forced to betray Wednesday and is later unable to help her when she is buried by Isaac.
