“Birds of a Feather” series – a (mostly) canon continuation of the Harry Potter series Cursed Child is canon and this is the hill I’ll die on. Looooong fic bridging the gap between the end of Deathly Hallows and the Epilogue, depicting the development of the wizarding world through the eyes of the golden trio, canon characters and their non-canon sidekicks. Plot-centric with a good dose of world building.

Started on 1st September 2022, under chaotic circumstances and motivated by “write what you want to read” and posted two years later because I finally felt confident enough about it xD.

Status:

Book - "Harry Potter and the Feather of the Augurey": 39 chapters written and finished. 3rd May 1998- 31st December 1999.

Book - "Harry Potter and the Werewolves' Den": 46 chapters written and finished. 3rd January 2000- April 2001.

Book - "Harry Potter and the White Wedding": 48 chapters written and finished. April 2001 - February 2003

Book - "His Human Legacy": 26 chapters written and finished. April 1954 – 2nd May 1998

Book - "Harry Potter and the Pink Party": 80 chapters written and finished. October 2003 - 21st July 2007

Side Stories to “Birds of a Feather”: “Heringshappen” - Each encounter with the alleged seer Trelawney made Aberforth believe more in fate, but only insofar as that he was sure fate must absolutely hate him. Sybill, on the other hand, was becoming attached to him. Or to his absinthe. Finished. “Totengräber” (aka "Bury your Gays Together, damn it!") - a six-part story about Harry Potter’s mission to reunite two enemies/lovers after death. Grindeldore. Finished. “Blood”-Series: “Young Blood" It was the eve of the Second Wizarding war and he'd just been made their leader. At twenty-seven years, he was the youngest Head of the Auror's Office ever. And Gawain Robards didn't expect himself to live. Finished. "To Draw the First Blood” - sequel to "Young Blood". Finished.

“Phoenix”-Series: “Ashborn” The past, the present and the non-existing future of Aurelius Dumbledore, as depicted on his last day and during his funeral. Bonus sibling drama and bonus ex-lovers spat included. Finished. “The Black Serpent” A broken father turns to the sin of magic to attempt to bring back his dead son. A mad witch exploits the grief for her own intentions. And Albus and Gellert find themselves forced to work together to prevent the greater bad from occuring… Sequel to “Ashborn”, an interpretation of what a fourth “Fantastic Beasts”-movie could have been about. 95% done. "Halcyon Days" What harm does it take for a single man to inflict upon the world, to be recognized as an unique tyrant? What does it take for a single man to fall to despair and abandon his own morality - and to try to do this same to his feelings (unsuccessfully)? Interlude between “The Black Serpent” and “Rise of the Phoenix”. “Rise of the Phoenix” The final duel of 1945 and the tales of the survivors. Climax of a fan’s imagination of the fifth “Fantastic Beasts”-movie. 3 scenes out of XX? finished.

"Share my Gossip, Share my Wine" - One-shot, of Vinda, Queenie, a lot of wine and even more gossip, courtesy of one Legilimens and one (or two?) disaster gay(s). Finished.

"All the Things She (Never) Said" - One-shot, Vinda x Queenie. Vinda is pardoned after the war, but at what price? Finished.

Other Stories/AUs: “Casus Belli” (aka "Gellert makes sure the HP series never takes place by killing every plot important character and their grandfather") - a seven-part story, taking place in an AU where the final duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald never happened, as tragedy befell one party much earlier, forcing the other party to resort to the darkest arts to preserve their perceived love and resulting in a bloody war for revenge. Dark Grindeldore. Finished.

"Pact of Haematolagnia" (aka "Blood Pact goes horrible wrong") - Halloween-themed Grindeldore, five parts. Finished.

"Nightmare" - (aka "Albus' attempt to resurrect his sister goes wrong") Albus wants answers and atonement. Ariana gives him nothing but anguish, and a death wish. Finished.

writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months

Serious advice tho if this happens, it's likely because you already wrote past the end of the scene and wandered too far from the more logical transition point, and you should go back to the last time the writing felt "unforced" and cut everything after.

You can also just skip the transition. Really good writing can span years in a single sentence, like you can just authoritatively state fact and your reader will go with it.

When I was writing my fic last few months the strategy I used was "just skip all the scenes I don't want to write" and it worked great in my opinion

That’s such a weird thing to say and a weird account. No proships and profic isn’t good to be, I can just imagine the level of fucked up brain you have and I wanna tell you it deserves jail and most of all hell, imagine if you get kids ? Ughh I feel sorry for them and it wouldn’t look good because everything you say and post here reflects YOU, you are somehow what you imagine and dedicate your posts about. What you write about, ew like imagine going into detail and SPENDING your time on that DELIBERATELY, how and why do you WANT that? Are you traumatised or just fucked up, I wlasys wondered if people are born fucked up. I won’t thank ao3, and there should be writer censorship and I will do everything in my power to make it reality. No one is acceptable to anyone’s fucked up fanfics, it’s the GENERAL taste of people ALL over the world so you can’t expect people to not come for y’all. Accounts like you don’t deserve to be anywhere near internet and I hope you live a miserable life like you put through and wish to do for your fictional characters.

Two things I’ve noticed while working on my version of the fourth FB movie:

to develop and polish off Tina & Newt’s relationship, any 4th and 5th movie would definitely have to put them in the spotlight. Isn’t it that by the end of the 3rd movie, they haven’t even moved past flattery and flirting?! And they’re supposed to be endgame?!?

And, deeply connected with this…Tina & Newt will have at least one child, which, in turn, will have the boy Rolf Scamander. We don’t have a canon age for Rolf, the latest he could have been born is 1993. Okay. Yet, if Tina & Newt don’t happen to have a mostly behind the scenes relationship, and really do get developed to the point of marriage only within the movies, it means that the earliest they could marry would be 1945, with their child being born in 1946. I am not saying this is impossible, because no, it isn’t. It would just mean that Tina’s a rather late first-time mother (at ~45). (and the fandom’s bickering about Bellatrix becoming a mother at 45/46 should stop. :/)

what really fucks me up about watching the truman show in 2025 is how it's not fictional. truman is fictional, but the truman show isn't.

there's thousands of truman shows. you find them on youtube, tiktok, instagram... family and mommy vloggers, sad beige moms and now the trend of neglectful moms showing the "reality" of parenting. all of them using their kids for entertainment. each child their own truman; living a life manufactured by their parents, a camera watching their every moment, broadcasted for the entire world to see.

If you read a story that has dark topics like incest/rape/whatever else, and you draw the conclusion that it makes it okay irl, then congratulations, you are not normal! There is something wrong with you!

A normal, regulated adult human being is 100% able to tell the difference and understand complexity (no matter how the story is written, by the way). You are simply dysregulated and have the nerve to project your problems onto everyone and try to pretend like your immaturity and inability to understand anything beyond two-dimensional, 'safe' fiction is the status quo.

A story wherein the character(s) take joy in their dark topics, or where it isn't explicitly called out as bad, doesn't make the statement that it's okay irl, either by the way.

Are we really that fucking stupid as a species now that we need the big 'JUST SO YOU KNOW THIS IS NOT OKAY IRL DON'T DO THIS THIS IS BAD BAD BAD' sign on every piece of fiction and media that presents even just an OUNCE of challenging content? Are we so dumb and brainrotten that our morality can apparently flip on a dime just because a damn STORY didn't have a 'just so you know this is bad' disclaimer?? It truly seems so. What a bleak future this paints.

This doesn't mean that you have to like dark fiction. You can dislike it, you can find it uncomfortable or icky, but that doesn't give you the right to open your mouth and proclaim false information and go on a moral crusade just because you're a little uncomfy. Hey man, just don't interact with it. It is very easy.

Ron gets far too much hate. Despite being not all that emotionally aware, he is the emotional support friend of the group to help Harry through his anger and Hermione through her anxiety. Which is pretty important.

I've been thinking about DH's last chapter's name: "The Flaw In The Plan" On how it's meant to be there for Dumbledore's last plan, how Draco gaining ownership of the Elder Wand was not meant to happen but in the end it allowed Harry to beat Voldemort by beating Draco and thus gaining the wand himself. But I also like to add another meaning for it too:

“Do you see, Harry? Do you see the flaw in my brilliant plan now? I had fallen into the trap I had foreseen, that I had told myself I could avoid, that I must avoid.” “I don’t —” “I cared about you too much,” said Dumbledore simply. “I cared more for your happiness than your knowing the truth, more for your peace of mind than my plan, more for your life than the lives that might be lost if the plan failed. In other words, I acted exactly as Voldemort expects we fools who love to act. It can't just be a coincidence that the same phrasing was used here, right? (Yes it can but shhhh) The true flaw in the plan was Dumbledore coming to care for Harry. Had Dumbledore not loved Harry, had Dumbledore not taught Harry about the importance of the power of love , had Dumbledore just let Harry die... then it's very likely that the war would have been lost.

There are sounds of cheers and crying and the two people hug each other as they exchange the flags. The man at the doorway then waved kisses to the crowd within the pride parade.

For context, apparently they were worried that maybe he's a nationalist because he was waving the Portuguese flag and some nationalists opposing the pride march were waving that flag. But upon interacting with him, it turns out he didn't have have a pride flag and he wanted to wave *a* flag in support of the pride march. So they had an exchange and now he has his own pride flag 😭🥹.

there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.

short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.

meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.
