@letsgetplnty ok, it turns out im very not up to date with fungi Auricularia had been separate from the Exidia grouping for quite some time, I apologize. Though this now makes me feel old.
Anywho, Im pretty sure that these were new fruiting basidiocarps of the fungus A. auricula-judae (Judus wood ear)
also with what ive been telling you about Exidia, the truth does still remain that they are extremely close relatives.
