Graduation day had come and gone, and just like that, James was leaving to train to be an Auror. If James had a choice, he would have chosen to stay right here, and learn on the Hogwarts grounds. Unfortunately, that was not an option so James had to leave.
Leaving not only meant leaving most of his friends and family behind, but Regulus, who had another year of Hogwarts to finish. He was worried about Regulus and how he would be over the next year, but James did make a secret promise to come back to him.
They were currently spending their last few hours together off of campus, at an empty field nearby that they had found unoccupied. Regulus’ head was currently laying in James’ lap and his fingers were brushing through the soft dark, slightly curly strands.
Looking up at James, Regulus asked, “Do you have to leave?”
James turned his lips downwards. “I’m afraid so love, but I wish that I didn’t have to.” He leans down and pecks a kiss to Regulus’ forehead. “I did ask to get reassigned, but alas, it was to no avail.”
Regulus just turned his head away, looking out at the field of grass and flowers they were lying in, “it’s always Jame. I’ll just miss you a lot, that's all.”
Chuckling, he agreed. “Yeah, me too love, me too.” He paused for a minute. “Are you coming to see me off tomorrow?”
“Um, I might yeah.” He looked back at James now. “I just don’t want to make too big of a scene if I’m there,” he sniffed, “I'm afraid I might cry if I do, but I can come for you if that makes you happy.”
“Yeah, I think it would make me happy, Reggie.” He pressed another kiss to Regulus’ forehead. ‘The happiest ever.”
