Hello everyone!

A follower of mine is doing a survey online and needs autistic participants:

The myth that autistic people don’t experience empathy is everywhere, and has persisted without any substantial research. In fact, the first study to investigate autism and empathy only occurred in 2002, and was a case study of only 2 people.

Our study aims to expand our knowledge of autism and empathy and disprove the myth that autistic people don’t experience empathy — and we need your help to do it. We’re looking for autistic adults currently living in the United States to take our short, 15 minute survey. We especially encourage autistic people who identify as women and/or as self diagnosed to take part, as both groups are chronically underrepresented in autism research.

RFK Jr.'s autism study to amass medical records of many Americans

The autism study is planning to link confidential data "with broad coverage in the U.S. population" in one place for the first time.

The NIH is also now in talks with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to broaden agreements governing access to their data, Bhattacharya said. In addition, a new disease registry is being launched to track Americans with autism, which will be integrated into the data.

Recently took part in an autistic stress study that specifically made sure to ask the participants about their experience in the study and their thoughts/feelings/stress/lifestyle etc etc etc

I made sure to tell the researcher that that will get him far and that asking autistic people about what we are experiencing directly is SO good!

Plus I got an $80 Amazon gift card (I hate Amazon but I do love money so... 🙃) and a personality assessment (which I personally love bc I'm addicted to personality quizzes).

If you wanna do the study too, they are actually looking for any diagnosed autistic people in the US who are currently in college! DM me and I'll send you the flier and info!

They will need to mail you a heart monitor but otherwise the test itself was 2 hours or less!

Volunteers sought for research into the use of conscious social strategies

I am recruiting for a research study and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the below information about the doctoral research I’m undertaking? I am hoping to recruit adults with and without ASD.

What is the purpose of this project?

The purpose of this project is to develop a questionnaire to identify the nature and prevalence of the conscious social strategies (or social ‘camouflaging’ behaviours) people use. We are looking at how the use of these strategies corresponds to levels of social anxiety and/or traits of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Measuring the use of these strategies will add to the limited body of literature in this area of psychology, and the results could contribute towards further development of questionnaires on this subject.

Who is doing this research and why?

The project is part of Ruhina Ladha’s (Trainee Clinical Psychologist with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme) doctoral research project, supported by Bangor University and supervised by Dr Kristina Cole (Clinical Psychologist). Both investigators are members of the British Psychological Society. It has been reviewed and approved by the Bangor University Ethics Committee.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be required to complete a series of three short questionnaires about your behaviour in social situations and around traits of ASD and social anxiety. These are not intended to be diagnostic.

How long will it take?

The questionnaires should take no longer than 15 – 25 minutes to complete

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential?

Yes, the confidentiality of participants will be assured. No identifying information is asked for and all data will be stored securely.
