i would like to place most of the blame for my childhood obsession with wanting a best friend on every single 2000s, 2010s show aimed at little girls that promoted high ideals of friendship. specifically probably my little pony. and i think this is why i couldn’t continue to watch shows like that as i got older (upper elementary, lower middle school) because i realized that literally nobody really cared about their friends in the way characters on kids shows did. and maybe this (and my obsession to figure out what was so appealing about it) was why i was so obsessed with romance books after i dropped the friendship show obsession because that was clearly the best way to get emotional fulfillment was by having only one person to attach to and that was the direction it was acceptable to do it in. maybe this was why i was so depressed in middle school. how interesting that the thing that brought this on was “shake your tail” from the first equestria girls movie. i should tell my therapist this.
; autistic arospec culture is not understanding the whole " I'd do this but my romantic partner doesn't want me to " or " I love this but my romantic partner doesn't so idk !! "

Me, an aromantic: do I want a relationship because society has convinced me that the only person who I can have a whole and meaningful connection with is a partner? Do I want to date or do I just want a soulmate? Do I want to be a joyfriend or do I just want to feel known fully and understood and accepted for the first time? Am I yearning for a lover or do I think that's the only way I'll stop feeling alone? *Has an identity crisis*

Banner Bases - Aromantic Spectrum (and Related)
I made a few text banners a while back, but I figured that folks may find the plain bases useful.
