@capnblowfish
cigarette smoke INVADES her lungs like a cancerous army. the crimson blemishes etched onto pale flesh remind her that there are far ( worse ) habits to entertain than this minuscule offense. she’s all alone in the world now, her dad long dead, and her humble abode a shitty apartment that houses both alcoholics and explicit sexual commentary from the neighbors next door. he’s not bad though, the broken man next to her. his visage was ( once ) handsome, she concludes, though now it is plagued with entwining scars that she longs to trace.
what’s his story? she doesn’t need him to divulge it for her to know. an addict can ALWAYS spot a fellow addict, as though they foreheads were branded with crimson lettering. they’ve never spoken, but she extends her cigarette to him nonetheless, its white base smothered with red lipstick.
‘ you look like you could use this more than me. ‘
AU: Nikki Bella is always proud to show support of her boyfriend on Raw.
AU: In which Isis is quite the stripper at the most popular and high class strip club in New York City, and one of her regular clients just so happens to be Charles. She's never understood why such a person would always be wanting to see her privately, and not even for a show, but instead he just talks to her. Like he has a crush on her or something.
Which he does. And it fucking sucks. Charles, a wealthy business man first came to the club as a joke, but ended up locking eyes with this beautiful girl and he just had to meet her. And he couldn't stop crushing on her once he saw how he was quite the opposite of her confident persona from on stage. Once she was on break, at the bar, Isis turned in to a complete cutie. And Charles couldn't help himself as he started requesting her, and just to talk. At least, at the beginning.
Soon enough, every Saturday night they're making out in the private room and can't help it if it goes a little far. But Isis is no where near exclusive. (She's dating her boss, Sanders). And Charles ends up getting pissed every other time he comes to find Isis being cuddled by him in the corner or making out in the supply room - which he sees through a cracked door.
And even after they break up, she moves on so easily and goes on to the next one, and then the next one, and even one after that, with her friend Charles following closely behind. But he can't take it finally, and like snaps at her one Saturday out of jealousy. And she ends up leaving early from their session, and makes sure he can't request her for the next week because she'll be 'out of town'.
And it's within that week she just realizes how much she can't stop missing him, and ends up finding him the week after she comes back and like drags him away, and so Isis apologizes the only way she knows how - by kissing him so roughly and with love. And she like breaks away but Charles doesn't let her.
Because he finally has her.
AU: In which Charles Lay and Isis Hunter are widely known names in the game of chess, set to play against each other in the 1972 ICF's (International Chess Federation) final game. Thanks to the two different countries bringing their best players, and the current tension, many news reports have plauged this game as the 'Match of the Century'.
Born and raised in the US, Charles Lay is the All-American boy. Raised with a loving mother and father, chalked right in the middle of a large family, he is the poster-boy for everything this country has to offer. His education, his drive, and charm, all of it screams how he is the perfect American. Which just shows how much better equipped he is to go in to a match facing the quietist and more stern girl he's ever met.
Isis Hunter was born with a much different situation at hand then Charles, as she was plucked from her family the week she was born and basically breaded to play Chess. Elusive to the public and very shy, Isis is more of a moving picture than a person as she heads in to the game.
The week before the match, Isis is somehow coursed in to being taken out. It's more of a stunt than anything, just a way for her team to skye out the competition, but it ends up that the Bangkok club - the city the match is being held in - is where Charles and his team are as well.
Isis has never seen his face before, but he's sure seen hers, and so he instantly goes up to her and starts chatting her up. She comes out so hesitant at first, but soon realizes who he is and feels even more shy than before. And this, which was originally supposed to be nothing more than a trip up or something to mess with the game tomorrow, turns in to something more when Charles realizes he should leave, but he can't stop talking to a girl who loves to listen. And there's also a certain thrill talking to someone from what's supposed to be the sworn enemy of your country.
And Isis is about to reply to something - in her semi-rough american - when one of the members in her team sees her, and notes who's she's with, and forcefully drags her away. It wouldn't be such big deal if he was just her apparent and came from somewhere like Italy or France. But no, he's American. And painfully so.
But the next morning, Isis heads to the top of the building they're staying at to find the American team staying there as well, and Charles is already on the roof. And he sees her, and tries to say something in Russian, but she corrects him and then explains it with her accent and all - which Charles had thought that he believed it was cute because he was drunk but now he realized it's just plain adorable. And they spend every morning for the next week together, as he talked and she listened or put in something very quietly. And every night he tries to teach her a little more English. And it's one of those loves where they realize it almost instantly, so it takes no time for them to truthfully admit they do love each other.
And finally the match comes, but right as it's about to start, someone tips off the ICF of everything that has happened between Charles and Isis, and one of them is forced to forfeit. So, Charles instantly starts to do so because he knows Isis will practically be killed if she loses, but before he can say anything she forfeits and lets Charles win because she knows how much he loves chess, and it wasn't breed in to him.
She's pulled away before he can say anything to her, and he can't find her but waits on the roof in case she might come up. And then one day he hears the door open quietly, and Charles turns around.
It's his coach.
Isis was sent back to the USSR without so much of a goodbye.
AU: In which Charles Lay is the Underdog and up-and-coming Quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, and Isis Hunter is a renowned Marine Biologist working at Shedd Aquarium, in Chicago. And it's a fateful day when Charles ends up getting dragged to the aquarium so all of teammates have something to do, and Isis is walking out of the back room to go feed the Belugas - her favorite part of the day - only to fall on Charles and spill all of the fish on him.
And he should be pissed as hell about it, but for some reason he can't stop staring at the young marine biologist who's just ruined his favorite tee shirt, and becoming completely endeared by the way she's rapidly apologizing while trying to pick the fish up off the floor. And he ends up having to wear a very tight tourist shirt that Isis got for him from the gift shop, and then she lets him follow her around all day while she's working, and every time he's on his way home from a game or a deal, he'll stop by the aquarium to surprise her. All of the other scientists have started joking with her about it, clamming that the youngest scientist of the group has a boyfriend, which it doesn't help when Charles comes around one day with a bouquet of flowers and a date proposal. And of course, she accepts, only to have the amount of joking around her the next morning at work. Even the dolphins are laughing with the others.
