“Quietly! You’re gonna wake them up!”
“I want to wake them up.”
“No! We need to wake Eli first.”
“He’s deaf, Ava!”
Ava rolled her eyes dramatically, “yeah, not dead.”
You bit back a laugh, able to hear your twins overly loud whisper conversation. Burying your head in Johnny’s chest, you pretended to be asleep.
“Mummy! I heard that!” Jasper laughed, him and Ava running round to your bed.
“What are you two doing up?!” you exclaimed, feigning shock.
“It’s Christmas!” Ava yelled, both of them showing you their full stockings.
“He’s been!” you gasped, “come on then, let’s go wake Elijah.”
“What about Daddy?” Ava asked, peering at his sleeping body as she walked over to his side.
“Daddy’s already awake!” Johnny exclaimed, reaching out the duvet and picking Ava up, making her squeal with laughter.
“Come on you two!” you laughed, “let’s go and wake Elijah!”
Ava giggled, wriggling out of her dad’s strong grip and joining Jasper as they ran to Elijah’s room, you waiting in the doorframe, watching Johnny roll out of bed dramatically.
“I see where they get it from,” you tutted sarcastically, going to leave before a strong hand caught your wrist.
Giggling, you were pulled back into the doorway, Johnny now standing opposite you.
“What?” you smiled.
Johnny placed two fingers under your chin before raising it up, so you could see the plant hanging from the doorway.
“Is that mistletoe?” you laughed, “John, you’re such an idiot.”
“Smart, no?” he smiled, “come on, kiss me.”
You fake-grimaced as Johnny laughed, wrapping his arms around you as your lips met in a kiss.
“Mum, Dad! Stop! Just hurry up!” Jasper whined.
You laughed, resting your head on Johnny’s chest as he smiled, kissing your head.
“Merry Christmas.”
