This is so dumb but it's a headcanon that's been on my mind for ages.
Basically we know Lucas doesn't want kids, but I just can't get over the thought of him finding out his gf is pregnant, wanting NOTHING to do with it, trying to throw money at the problem to make it go away, etc. But then when he sees his baby he just.... boom. Head over heels.
SO ANYWAY I WROTE IT.
I smashed this out in a single sitting over a few hours, so please don't be too harsh, it's probably full of waffle and mistakes and broken metaphors, but I just needed to get it down.

Well I do not mind at all! I'm sorry if there's people wishing I'd shut up about it lol Here is the first part of these, just in case, and here are some comments on pregnancy and choosing a nanny. And sorry it took me so long to get to this!
So, some more general HC and then I'll add some specific for a girl or a boy because why not.
- That child is getting technology time so, so limited… They're gonna be playing outside (likely taking classes for a chosen sport), they'll get tons of pencils and paper to draw, paint, jigsaw puzzles, cubes, books, playdough… Physical things, rather than an iPad and Kids Netflix 24/7. I HC Lucas as working in rehabilitation, and some fellow psychologist will remark the importance of early cognitive and motor stimulation. And he'll take it very seriously, even if it requires a bit of extra work from him and MC.
- He would be the one teaching them how to walk (again, according to my work HC for him, he already does that with grown people so he would take this as a personal mission).
- OBSESSIVE about proper nutrition while they grow up. Lots of research about when children can start eating certain things, swatting forks away screaming "ARE YOU INSANE?? DO YOU KNOW HOW ALLERGENIC TOMATOES ARE??". That kid will have no allergies and a killer immune system.
- So much frustration during the "picky eater" phase, oh my god. He can't understand why they won't eat something they used to like, and now they just want spaghettis with cream and nothing else.
- Slightly hurt if he's woken up by a distant "Mom, I had a nightmare" instead of a closer "Dad, I had a nightmare" in the middle of the night…
- His worst nightmare is the supermarket tantrum. MC knows the basic principle of: You just explain why you said "no" and let them cry their eyes out, the rest of the people know kids that age throw tantrums. But Lucas? Lucas would get anxious that people would think he's a bad father and end up giving in even if he knows he shouldn’t, and then when they don't stop because sometimes what children actually want is just to cry, he would get even more anxious and just leave the supermarket without whatever they were there for.
- Punishments are smart and evil, but effective. Nothing physical, of course, and nothing unenforceable like "No TV for a month", and nothing cruel like "Not seeing your friends for two weeks". No. Something simpler. "No TV, only for two hours, for a week". Which two hours you ask? The two hours their favourite cartoon is on. "Sure, we'll still go to your favourite park. But later. When the dog you always pet has already gone home." "Yes, you can have a cookie after lunch. Any you want, except you favourite." Little things that make a point. They didn't do anything unforgiveable so it won't merit anything big, but he'll make sure there are consequences to it.
- No family portrait, but he takes all their drawings to his practice and pins them on a board next to his desk.
- Firm believer on the "one language, one physical activity, one artistic interest" triad. The specifics in each category are up to the kid.
- "Daaaad, can we go for a ride on your bike?" "Absolutely not." "… Why?" "Because it's dangerous. No." "Why is it dangerous?" "Because it goes very fast and you can fall and get hurt." "Then we'll get another bike that's not dangerous." "All bikes are dangerous." *Points to his arm* "That one too?"
- Bonus points if after that they cry every time they see Lucas grab his helmet. "Dad, no! You're gonna die!"
- The kid would be curious about his job and think he's a doctor. He would kinda let them believe it while they're still young because explaining the difference would be a bit too complicated for a small child; a "Not exactly a doctor, but close" type of deal.
- He's so over the top when it comes to material stuff… "Dad, can you get me a book by this author?" "Which one?" "Whichever you find!" *The next day* "I got what you wanted!" *puts three bags filled with the author's entire bibliography on the table*.
- I don't like it, but he would be kind of a "suck it up" kinda parent… Not because he doesn't get that you shouldn't shake everything off but because he doesn't know how to deal with it himself. Mom would be more understanding.
- This has to do with a very specific HC from my Lucas in my fic but I figured I might as well share it. Lucas would never ever suggest it, it probably wouldn't even cross his mind, but if MC said she wanted to be a stay at home mom for a couple of years, he wouldn't oppose.
- Another personal HC (a bit too personal as it vaguely comes from actual personal experience), is that he doesn't have a bad relationship with his family. They are all just a bit distant, mostly only talking and seeing each other for Sunday brunch with very little interaction besides that (which makes some sense on a particular level but I won't get into it right now). So, while he doesn't actually resent his family, he wouldn't want his kid to feel that distance or coldness; it would be difficult because that's the way he's used to interact with family, it's what he learned, but he would make the effort and follow MC's lead on being a more loving parent.
Lucas and a daughter:
- The OG, my first dad!Lucas HC ever, from the Baby Challenge I've had written since last year, is that he would melt for the rest of his life if he had a daughter.
- She is a princess, she's perfect, and no human being will ever be good enough for her, don't @ him. No one is surprised by this headcanon, right?
- He can't say no to her, he just can't. Again, no one is surprised.
- Also, she grows up seeing him as the model of the ideal partner, seeing how he treats her mom and being taught that's how her partner should treat her.
- "Can I put make up on you?" "Sorry, honey, no." "… Well, can I give you another tattoo, then?" "… Okay."
- "Lucas, we can't keep buying her just dresses. She's a kid, she needs to run around and play, and be comfortable. Just let her be in a pair of trousers or shorts and a t-shirt." "Yeah, you're right… She looks so cute, though!" "Yes, but all those pretty dresses are going into the sandbox, you know?"
- "Lucas, why did you buy her a real tea set?" "What do you mean why? What did you want me to buy her? Plastic?" "Yes! It's a toy!" "I'm not buying her a set of plastic Barbie-pink cups. That's tacky." "Okay then, what do you think it's gonna happen if she drops one, it shatters, and she tries to clean it up without asking for help." "… She- she would ask for help." "You never know." *Suddenly pale Lucas*
Lucas and a son:
- If he's into them, sports! If he's not, Lucas won't force him.
- While Lucas is away he would ask mom or the nanny for one of his white shirts and pretend he's wearing a lab coat like his dad. Lucas would get him a tiny lab coat of his own, with the pockets and everything.
- Some physical play, as in putting him upside down or tickle wars type of deal.
- He would look up to his dad so much it's ridiculous. He's his hero, and his role model. He would copy his walk, the way he seats, the way he talks… So much so, people would insist they look exactly the same even if they don't because the "vibe" resemblance is that strong.
- Just imagine his face if the kid said he wanted to follow his footsteps profession-wise.
- The chats about how to treat women and how to stand up to bullies both for himself and for others…
- Quiet camaraderie when he's older.
Okay, I'll stop here again lol. Now I'm thinking about teens and Lucas, but if I get into that this will be a novel and we don't want that. Again, thanks for asking these! Now I want to write a dad!Lucas fic, damn you all.
You were sitting on the floor in front of your mirror when Lucas enters the room, exhaustion clear on his face.
When he was tired, he was clingy, preferring to be latched onto you, usually in the form of a cuddle.
You were sitting crosslegged on the carpet of your bedroom, Lucas’ massive white t-shirt framing your body. It was rolled up, resting the top of on your eight-month bump, which you were coating with some sort of special moisturiser.
‘Hey, beautiful,’ Lucas grins cheekily, just like he always did whenever he flirted with you.
‘Hi,’ you rasp.
‘Why’re you on the floor?’
‘Putting my cream on,’ you respond.
Yukhei plops himself down on the ground behind you, wrapping his legs around your frame so that you were sitting in between his legs, skin of his naked leg brushing against the bare skin of yours.
‘How is my little angel in there?’
‘Good.’
You were at the point in your pregnancy where you didn’t even want Yukhei to look at you.
You hated the way you looked, the red and angry stretch marks piling and piling up quicker than you can keep track of. The skin of your bump was also dry and itchy, and it was impossible to shave any part of your body.
Obviously, Yukhei was probably the most attractive man you had ever come across, and nowadays you often found yourself wondering why he was still even with you.
He could have any girl he wanted, but he had to deal with you, the heavily pregnant lump who whined and complained all day long.
So you hugely tensed up when he started kissing the back of your neck affectionately, hands wandering to your bump.
You could feel him grinning against your skin as he felt his daughter kicking hard, wriggling and turning around in your womb.
‘Hi Mei-xing,’ Lucas giggles, ‘daddy missed you today, yes he did, yes he did!’
You rolled back your head against Lucas’ shoulder, comfortably lying against his chest.
‘You look so pretty right now,’ he comments while he stares at you through the mirror, and you hum in acknowledgement.
‘I don’t know how you could even say that when I have all these marks.’
Yukhei sights deeply, trying to meet your eyes in the mirror.
‘I hate it when you say things like that. ‘Specially when you look so beautiful, carrying our first baby…’
‘It’s just… once she’s out… I’ll still look like this. I’ll still have these stretch marks everywhere, and what will you think of me then?’
‘I’ll still think that you were the most gorgeous woman on the planet. Nothing you could ever do would change my mind on that. Ever.’
‘I’m sorry,’ you mutter, ‘I’m just getting all hormonal and-‘
‘It’s okay, angel. I just don’t want to hear you talking down about yourself again. I can’t wait for our baby girl to arrive… you being the mother of my child is possibly the biggest honour of my life.’
’Thank you, Xuxi,’ you smile, ‘I love you.’
‘I love you too, Y/N. And Mei-xing. So so so so much.’

“Y/N, you’re gonna have to let go, I need to get the snacks,” Lucas chuckled, running a hand through your hair, “cheese, right?”
You grabbed your nine-month-pregnant stomach, looking up at Lucas in shock.
“Yukhei,” you gasped, “the baby.”
“You alright?” he asked, turning his full attention to you, a serious look on his face, “what’s going on?”
“The baby’s coming,” you said, “my water just broke.”
“Your water?!” Lucas exclaimed, looking down to see– sure enough –a puddle of liquid on the floor, “oh my god.”
“Damn straight ‘oh my god’,” you whisper-yelled, “wha-what do I do? Yukhei, I don’t know what to do.”
“It’s okay, calm down,” he soothed, “are you having any contractions?”
“N-Not yet,” you panted.
“It’s gonna be okay, I’ll tell someone what just happened then we’ll go home and get the bag and then drive straight to the hospital, okay? Yeah?” Lucas said.
You nodded, grabbing your husband’s arm as he began to walk away, “I’ll come too! I don’t wanna be alone.”
Lucas smiled, kissing your head, “it’ll be okay. We’re prepared for this, yeah?”
You took a deep breath, waddling beside Lucas as he approached a store worker to explain the situation. Just as you felt an embarrassed blush arise, it was taken away by an extreme pain washing over your lower body.
You gripped onto Lucas’s arm, squeezing tightly as he smiled.
“Come on,” he said, “let’s go and have a baby!”
“Oh god,” you cried, as Lucas laughed slightly, holding you by the waist as he helped you out the shop and into your car.
“Shouldn’t we wait for the contractions to be timed right?” you panted, as another one came and went, “before leaving for the hospital.”
Lucas hummed, “well, your water’s broken and if left for too long that can cause infection to the baby. So no.”
You laughed, in shock as you looked at your boyfriend, “how do you know all this?”
He shrugged bashfully, “I’ve read a few books, I guess.”
You smiled, running a loving hand through his brown hair, “you’re the best, Yukhei, you know that, right?”
He smiled cheekily, “I’ve been told.”
You chuckled, before swallowing and gasping as another sensation came over your body, making you grip the seat and cry out in pain.
“It’s okay, we’re home now, which means we’ll be at the hospital soon. It’s gonna be okay,” Lucas soothed, “and hey, we’ll have waiting time! The doctors will help us.”

“Mrs. Wong you’re already 10cm! You’re ready to go straight away!” the nurse exclaimed.
“What?!” you exclaimed, “already?!”
“You seem to have dialated early,” the nurse nodded, “you’ve obviously been moving around a lot.”
“I mean I do but—” you cut yourself off with a groan, grabbing onto Yukhei’s hand, “I– I wa— ah! Shit! I need to push!”
“It’s okay, Y/N, lets just let this wave pass and then we’ll get you in the tub,” the nurse said, “will Yukhei be coming in with you?”
Lucas chuckled, “I don’t know if she—”
“Where the fuck else would he be?” you gasped, before the contraction finally passed.
The nurse smiled, “Yukhei, you can change into these and we’ll help Y/N into the pool.”
Lucas took the bathing shorts, kissing you multiple times before heading off to the bathroom, changing quickly and coming out to meet you.
You’d already got into the pool, your head thrown back at the comfort on your back after standing up for ages. Your hair was out of your face, your hands carressing your bump as you always done since you’d been in the third trimester.
Suddenly, you cried out, prompting Lucas to get in the pool behind you, kissing your shoulder softly and whispering comforting words into your ear as you tried to breath through the contraction.
“Ah, my back!” you screamed, as the nurse nodded.
“I think it’s time to start pushing now,” the midwife said.
“Me too,” you groaned, your face scrunched up in pain before you flung your hair back, resting it on Yukhei’s shoulder.
“I can already see the head, Y/N, I have a feeling they’re going to be very easy on you,” the midwife smiled.
“Oh joy,” you said sarcastically, pain ripping through your lower body.
“You’re so amazing, baby,” Yukhei muttered, “this is incredible.”
“Yukhei, if you reach down you could touch the head if you like,” the doctor said.
“Really?!” Lucas exclaimed.
“We do not have all day!” you yelled, grabbing his arm and squeezing to try and relieve your pain.
Yukhei chuckled, reaching down and feeling his baby’s head, laughing in both shock and happiness.
“Oh my god,” he breathed, his face buried in your shoulder, “that’s them. They’re really there.”
“Y/N, shall we start pushing?” the midwife said.
“God, yes!” you screamed, holding Yukhei tightly as you pushed and pushed.
“Almost there!” the midwife smiled.
“Better be!” you panted, Yukhei kissing across your shoulders.
“Come on, you can do it baby,” he breathed, “one last push.”
“I’m so tired,” you cried, lacing your hand with his.
“I know,” he sighed, “one last push, okay?”
“He’s right. If you do one last, strong push, they’ll be out!” the midwife exclaimed.
You took a deep breath, pushing again until the cries of a newborn baby filled the room. Your newborn baby.
“That’s them,” Lucas chuckled, kissing your cheek, “Y/N, you did it! I’m so proud of you baby.”
Your eyes filled with tears, hearing the sound of your own babies cries from across the room.
“Congratulations, Mr, Mrs. Wong,” the nurse smiled, “meet your son.”
She handed you a tiny baby, still naked and wrinkly, but totally clean, and so, totally yours.
“That’s your nose,” you teased, leaning into Yukhei’s strong chest as he chuckled.
“That’s our son,” he said, his voice sounding choked up.
You smiled, turning your head to see him wipe away a few tears.
“We’ll take his measurements now,” the nurse said, “Mr. Wong, after we’ve done them you could to skin to skin if you like.”
Lucas’s face lit up, “yes! Please.”
“And joy for you, Y/N, we have to deal with the after birth,” the midwife said, “lot less satisfying than the first round of pushes.”
You chuckled, watching as Yukhei got out the pool, drying himself off before positioning himself on the sofa, ready to hold his baby.
“Be careful with him,” you called, “he’s small and innocent.”
Yukhei laughed, before humming, “innocent. Manchu.”
“Manchu?” you repeated, “does that mean innocent?”
Yukhei hummed.
“I like it,” you smiled, “Manchu.”
“But he needs three names!”
“No he does not,” you laughed, “maybe an english one though?”
“Beginning with the same letter,” Lucas nodded, “that’d be smart.”
You chuckled, “Matthew?”
Lucas scrunched his face up, shaking his head, “M... M... Michael?”
“He sounds old,” you laughed, “Mark?”
“Mark Lee!” Lucas exclaimed, before quietening down as the nurse handed him a tiny baby, laying the sleeping boy on his dad’s chest.
You watched as Manchu snuggled into his dad’s heartbeat, a slight sigh leaving him.
“How’s Milo?” Lucas murmered.
“Milo,” you repeated, “sounds like something you’d name your son.”
Lucas chuckled gently, not taking his eyes off the baby, “Milo it is, then. Milo Wong.”

until eventually, the first time liqiang ever responded to a vocal cue with a noise of his own was when liwei was talking to him
liwei was so proud that he did that lol
liwei may have been skeptical at first, but he quickly became an amazing brother

DO NOT apologize for "long ask"s!! I love them!! And about Lucas... In short: I agree with you. But then again, my Lucas is slightly different from other people's depictions of him. (I don't think I'll ever like the moustache but... Given that my fc for him is Daniel Henney and he can pull it off, it's at least less upsetting).

- First, big, huge one: It wouldn't be an accident. Like, a pregnancy might. The pregnancy won't. I don't think Lucas would get into a serious relationship with someone who didn't stand at least pretty close to his views on parenthood: If you don't want to be a parent, you shouldn't be a parent. So it would 100% be a choice and not "something that happened and now we have to deal with".
- I think he is conflicted about it. He says, and I'm quoting, "I'm not sure I'm the marriage and kids type, anyway". He's 27, if he was completely against it he would have decided by now, and he would be upfront about it. He would want to get it straight before the relationship got any further, "If you're dreaming about a big family I'm not the guy for you". But he doesn't.
- I do believe though that if he was with someone who definitely didn't want them he wouldn't find it hard to give up on the idea. We know he's not dreaming with a huge family, all I'm saying is that as far as we know he hasn't taken the possibility completely off the table.
- Just one kid... if it's a girl. IMAGINE LUCAS WITH A BABY DAUGHTER. The man would melt. You'd need a boat to move around after that much drooling. I'm so in love with this idea that I think if he had a boy he would absolutely love him but might risk a second one to try and get a girl too.
- Time is of the essence. I believe part of his reluctance has to do with him wanting to join DWB and that not being really compatible with a family. I recently googled it for a prompt, and the minimum you're away is 9-12 months. So the man is in a dilemma, isn't he? Because...
- Lucas won't be an old dad. He would want to run around and actually play with his kid, carry them on his shoulders, not to mention the sleepless nights at the beginning. Lucas is not having a kid at 40, he's done the maths and he's not going there. If he has them, he wants to enjoy them. So the "soon or never" is popping into his head every time the subject comes up.
- Now, for the actual parenting, he would help but that doesn't mean he wouldn't hate part of it. "I'll get up every time they cry at night as long as I don't have to make them burp or change the nappies, I'm begging you..."
- Have you seen those photos of the kid sleeping next to the dad in the same position?
- "Dad, you're home!!!" *Runs to him and hugs his legs*
- A good, reliable nanny so mum and dad can get a weekend away every once in a while.
- Very overprotecting, but also determined to raise an independent child. He would obsess over them having everything they need (and likely everything they want, too), but would struggle with the fear of spoiling them rotten and raising an entitled annoying brat. Basically he's afraid his child would end up being what people always thought he was.
- Would "ask mum" them because he knows (all of them know) if they make puppy eyes he will give in.
- When they're out, the kid falls asleep on him, not on her.
- *Looking at the toys lying all over the living room* "Lucas, chill. We have a four-year-old, of course the house is gonna be a mess. Leave them play in peace, they'll learn how to tidy up later."
- Best school available, would also insist they learn at least one language.

- He would encourage curiosity. To ask why about everything (he'll half regret it later...), and reason through explanations, and dig deepen when they're older. His kid would be smart as hell, we all know this.
- Old cartoons on Sunday mornings. Like, really old, the ones he used to watch as a kid. Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Hannah-Barbera... Quality shit. Paw Patrol my ass.
- Not a lot of loving words, though. I feel like he wouldn't say "I love you", but rather show it. Hugs, gifts, and general protectiveness.

A lot of dad!Lucas hcs I read usually depicts him and MC having accidental pregnancy, but that man is careful! If he's going to have a child then he will have it on his own terms. I feel like he would make so much fuss just to hire a nanny. "But what if they can't answer all of our baby's questions? What if they let her watch those shitty *makes disgusted face* cartoons?" and MC would roll her eyes, "I love you but you're overthinking this. It's just a nanny"

I agree! They would be careful, and even is something happened, I think they would both be 100% pro-choice (Lucas wouldn't be with someone who wasn't). So it's either a wanted baby or no baby at all, as you said, in their own terms. I believe this is why it makes a lot of sense for him to bring up the subject so early on; like even if he were the only guy to do it, it would be very in-character imo (He isn't the only guy to do it, right? I can't remember anymore)
YES. Is there such a thing as a PhD in Nannying? Because that's where the bar is at. He would insist that it's a woman because there is some traditionalism in there, but definitely not a teenager that's trying to make some money! Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, that's great… for other people's children. Not his. She would have to be smart and sweet, and would have to play with the kid and teach them things, not just watch TV while they play on their own in the other room. A teacher rather than just a pair of eyes.
