A Tsez (Didoi) Couple from Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia
"The Didoys, or Didoi, are an ethnic group [related to] Avars, one of the native peoples of the Caucasus, and are part of the Avar-Ando-Tsez group of peoples. The Didoys are a small indigenous people of southwestern Dagestan. The self-name of the people is Tsezi, which means "eagles" in translation.
Neighboring peoples and Avars call them Tsuntal, Georgians call them Zida. Usually, the peoples of Dagestan do not distinguish between the Didoys and Avars. These two peoples have become closer in the course of their history, they have similarities in genetic relationships, language, family life, everyday life, spiritual and material culture."
Avar grave goods from the burial at Kunbabony 7th C. CE. I also added a map to show where the finds came from. See the white star in the Avar Kingdom.
"The burial of an adult man at Kunbábony (AC2) contained 2.34 kilograms of gold in form of weaponry covered with precious metal foils, ornamented belt sets with so-called pseudo buckles and drinking vessels. The funerary attire and the grave goods are understood as elements of the steppe nomadic material culture of the period. The technological details and the decoration however suggest a culturally heterogeneous origin. Presented objects: 1-2. earrings; 3. armring; 4. eagle head-shaped end of a sceptre or horsewhip; 5-13. elements of the belt with the so-called pseudo buckles (9-10.); 14. crescent-shaped gold sheet; 15-18. sword fittings; 19. jug; 20. drinking horn. Pictures were first published in H. Tóth & Horváth."

Prvá časť Červenákovej kultovej fantasy trilógie Vládca vlkov dostáva podobu rozhlasového seriálu. Príbeh nás zavedie do čias, keď naši predkovia bojovali s Avarmi. V ich svete vládnu slovanskí, no i cudzí bohovia, žijú magické bytosti, duchovia a démoni, čarodejníci a zaklínačky.
Osem dvadsať päťminútových častí plných dobrodružstva, napätia a emócií, nás vtiahnu do fantazijného sveta, v ktorom hrdinovia bojujú proti presile vyslancov krutého boha, ktorý chce svet uvrhnúť do temnoty. Rogan sa na ich čele postaví mocnému veľkňazovi, aj armáde nemŕtvych, vráti pokoj miestnym osadám, ale aj sám sebe, keď nájde odpovede na svoje otázky a zmieri sa so svojou bolesťou.
Bulgarian Empire under Khan Krum the Fearsome, 803-814
A map illustrating the reign of Krum the Fearsome (Bulgarian: Крум Страшни), a pagan khan of Bulgaria from about 800 until his death in 814. During his time on the throne, Krum embarked on an aggressive campaign of territorial expansion, resulting in medieval Bulgaria doubling in size and spreading from the Dnieper to Middle Danube and from the Tatra Mountains to Adrianople. Following Charlemagne's defeat of the Avar Khaganate in 803, the Bulgarians took on the Avars themselves and, in 805, extended their territory to the borders of the Frankish Empire. In 811, they defeated an invading Byzantine force, killed Emperor Nicephorus I, and opened the way for a southward expansion. Krum besieged Constantinople in 813, plundering the surrounding countryside, but died (supposedly of cerebral hemorrhage) during a second siege of the Byzantine capital the following year.
