Taught, Not Given — After a hunt-festival, the Sarentu Tamtey leaves the fire and flies to So'lek's mountain to claim him. The RDA took her people's rites before she was old enough to learn them — she's certain of who, lost on what comes next. So'lek becomes the keeper of a tradition she was never given. (Explicit, Fem!Sarentu/So'lek)
Bright Eyes — After seven brutal days mediating a border dispute, Jake finally collapses asleep in Neytiri's lap at the bathing pools, kids climbing all over him. Then a Palulukan charges the shallows — and Jake goes from dead asleep to lethally combat-ready in an instant. Neytiri watches the line between the father the clan knows and the killer beneath, then watches him surface back to himself like nothing happened at all.
The Little Shadow — Before the Sky People came back. Before Jake had to become a war-leader, he was just a Father. Just a small Lo'ak, following his father everywhere he can get away with — clan meetings, the bathing pools, sometimes even hunts, trying (and failing) to hide that he's doing it. Jake always knows. He always lets him because he knows he'll always be close enough to protect his youngest son.
🕯️ If Not This — Right after the first film, Jake watches Neytiri with the clan's children and realizes just how badly she wants to be a mother someday. He never thought fatherhood was in the cards for him — a paraplegic vet doesn't get many options — and now, in a body that isn't even fully his yet, he doesn't even know if he can have children. And if the answer is no, he's already decided what he has to do: let her go, rather than take that future from her, even if it breaks his heart in the process.
