Heather’s knuckles throbbed beneath her gloves, but the two thugs sprawled at her feet weren’t getting up anytime soon. She adjusted her mask, wiping a streak of blood off her cheek, just as a familiar voice cut through the night.
"Nice work," Spider-Man said, perched casually on the fire escape above her, his tone far too chipper for someone who hadn’t thrown a single punch. "You know, I’m starting to think you don’t actually need my help. Or anyone’s, for that matter."
Heather glared up at him, her breath still coming fast. "You’re right. I don’t. So why don’t you stick to Queens, Spider-Boy, and leave the real problems to the rest of us?"
"Spider-Man," he corrected, leaping down with infuriating ease. He landed mere feet from her, his head tilted in mock thought. "Although ‘Spider-Boy’ does have a nice ring to it. Very Peter Pan."
Heather rolled her eyes. "Cute. Now get out of my way."
───── Heather Fitzpatrick has no use for heroes, least of all Spider-Man—the poster boy for feel-good justice that never reaches Brooklyn’s forgotten streets. As Maverick, she takes matters into her own hands, doling out justice with fists first and questions later. Heroes chase headlines; Heather chases results. But when alien-tech weapons flood the city, turning New York into a war zone, even her brutal brand of vigilantism isn’t enough to hold back the tide.
Heather has no choice but to team up with the one hero she trusts the least. Spider-Man may represent everything she despises, but if they can’t find a way to work together, Brooklyn’s survival hangs by a thread. As enemies become allies, Heather is forced to confront the limits of her own code—and what it truly means to be a hero.

It all started off with Steve discovering how greatly the bicycles had improved over the last decades and wanting to try it out. Unfortunately despite the stunning development the bicycles had made, they still stood no chance against THE Captain America.
So Steve dared Tony to build him a bike that the former could actually use to his delight. Of course Tony could not decline the challenge and had quickly built one.
In the meantime Steve had declared how he was gonna be the fastest cyclist in the world soon, leading Sam to tease him. “Oh, of course. Do I have to remind you that you didn't even manage to drive two miles last time?”
“You think you can do it better?”, Steve had shot back.
“That's not even a challenge”, Sam had proclaimed.
“You won't truly win, Steve … because your victory will be on me”, Tony had reminded him.
“If you're so smart, then why don't you build yourself a bike to beat me yourself?”, Steve had suggested.
This led Tony to build several bikes strong enough to withstand the powers of the Avengers. Of course he had adjusted his specifically to ensure it would drive faster without wasting his own energy. He was Iron Man after all.
Getting Thor to chime in was not difficult. As if he would let himself being ridiculed by some mere humans.
Bruce on the other hand was a different story. But some teasing from Tony's side helped to get out the Hulk who was eager to join the race.
Nobody got Natasha to join who was not willing to participate in their little game of pride as she 'didn't need to prove anything'.
Wanda was over-watching the whole race hoping that she would be able to prevent any serious injuries with her powers. Because when did anything the Avengers did end without any issues?
Vision had been assigned to be the referee. All the Avengers had agreed that they stood no chance against Vision anyway due to his powers.
So when the day of the race finally arrived everyone was determined to win.
“Who do you think will win?”, Wanda wondered.
“Nah … kinda hard to tell but I do have my bet”, Natasha stated with a confident grin.
“Seriously?”, Wanda questioned when Nat told her.
In the meantime the race had started.
At some point the Hulk was so annoyed by the insects crashing into his face that he did not care about the race anymore and destroyed his whole bike in an outburst of rage pulling Sam down with him in the process.
Thor used his lightening to boost the bike which quickly catapulted him to the first place but made his bike give up after some time.
Tony was hit by Thor's bike leading him to fall over but luckily Wanda managed to catch him with her powers.
So naturally Steve had to win, right? Actually he did not because everyone had forgotten about Clint who had connected an arrow to the back of Steve's bike.
Right before the finish line Clint pulled on the rope. Hence Steve's tempo decreased and Clint got a quick boost that catapulted him over the finish line making him win.
“Told you so”, Nat noted casually.
Wanda shook her head with a chuckle and started cleaning this whole mess of broken bicycle parts up.
“That's not fair! You used special tools to win”, Tony accused Clint.
“Seems like my power is the best. You all used yours. So you honestly can't complain”, Clint shot back.
“Knew you would rock it”, Natasha complimented him and playfully hit her best friends shoulder.
“Looks like Captain America isn't that almighty after all. Losing against a mere human”, Sam mocked him and gave Clint a high-five.

--------------------------------------
Through sleepless nights and dark circles, books and pens, through months of work you reached your goal. The moment you received the acceptance letter from Stark University you almost flew out the window without a fear in your mind. This was it!
Time had passed since that moment, but it is still engraved in your mind- a memory keeping you strong during the hard midterms and piles of work, even the small glimmers of regret. Trying your best wasn’t an option, you could do only that and no less. It was no easy task, lost social life as much as you tried to keep it. You were really lucky you had good friends that understood and supported you. University wasn’t easy for anyone making this one even tougher. People of all ages, backgrounds and cultures were piled up with you in this building. The best of the best as the slogan said, the ones that proved themselves and emerged victorious.
When you were young ,you used to spend a lot of time with your uncle at his places outside the country. He would introduce you to his work colleagues and things you had never seen before. There was a time where you would spend months on end with him. Not many memories were left from those moments in your head. At one point you spend a few years with him, your mother thought it would be good experience for you and it turned out to be nothing but the truth-at least you hoped so. You learned a lot from him and his friends, it felt like each spend day would offer you more knowledge in areas you never knew of. Computer work, ways of thinking and so much more that had become second nature to you.
The sky was tinted in a wash of oranges, reds and yellows bleeding one into the other, swirling around the sun emitting them. The day was ending, but you found yourself filling up an application in the library, covered by the silence and smell of exam worry.
Sponsored and founded by the one and only Tony Stark, this establishment offered an internship. Being part of the Avengers, Tony didn’t let just anyone from the students attending in, even if they were the best labeled by the school. It had been a year and a half since you started pushing yourself harder to be able to apply and there was nothing that could stop you. Pressing your finger over the enter button was very nerve wrecking yet simple. Even if it didn’t work out this year, you planned to do it again and again ,till he had no other choice but give you a chance.
Usually F.R.I.D.A.Y. went over everything and left only the applications worth going over by Tony himself or Pepper. The next 5 weeks for you were very stressful, but there was nothing more you could do but wait and focus on your own work. The first person you wanted to tell about this was your uncle. He went to work in some distant place where they had no internet so you switched to mail. Not as much paper under his name passed through your hands, as he had stopped answering you. You missed him, but the muddy childhood memories kind of compensated for that.
“Did you send it in?” the phone muffled a bit the sweet voice coming from the speaker
“Yeah, a few days ago actually.” You answered with a gentle sigh
“And no answer yet?” the girl’s pitch rose at the end of the sentence, amazed at that what she just heard
“I know, I know. Think about it though Nea. Who knows how many applications get submitted. Someone has to brush through them after all.” defending the situation was a form of coping for you, made you feel hopeful.
“So you are trying to tell me Tony Stark’s interface or whatever it’s called, can’t sort them out in a couple of hours? Come on Y/N! You and I both know you are trying to make yourself feel better.” The small pause made you anxious over what Nea said “Listen.” A breathy start of the sentence “ I don’t mean to brag, but I think I am one of the people who know exactly how much you deserve this. You were never the studious type, plus that you were gone for years on end with that mysterious uncle of yours. I never expected you to suddenly go for Stark University. Your dream changed you, from this quiet kid to crazy ol’ you right now on the call with me.I ain’t letting you bust yourself up over this just because it didn’t happen the first time around-”
Ding ding
Nea’s deep speech was cut off before she could unleash herself completely, by the slight ring of your phone’s notification.
“Who tf has the audacity to text while the great me is giving this legendary –“
Ding!
The second time the sound sung out made her choke up with anger, you could almost see the fumes coming out of the phone.
“WHO IS IT!” a loud hiss pierced your ear
“Maybe if you gave me a minute I could answer your question.” Pulling the call down, your finger ran over the screen to the email, making your notification lamp blink like a car. Almost instantly it opened before your eyes and you gasped. The action made you swallow suddenly and cough out a bit ,giving poor Nea an idea about the level of shock you were in.
“What? What? You can’t just almost die and not tell me what is going on.” She proceeded with a not so tasteful interrogation.
“I-…they accepted my application…” at the end a small smile flowed over your lips contorting the sound coming out
“Stop!?” she choked up as well “You gotta be fucking with me!? No fucking way this is real!”
“I am honest. It says here that they liked my skill set, my grades and the way of thinking I presented in my essay. I got the spot Nea! I fucking did it!” you threw the phone on the bed letting it bounce as you started dancing.
“Of course you did! I told you! You will be working with THE AVENGERSSSS!” at some point it sounded like your best friend was more excited than you “When do you start?”
“Well…” taking a second to calm down and re-establish contact with your phone, you looked up the schedule that came attached with the email “…ok…so it says here that I will be starting on Monday so~ in 2 days? “
“So soon! Any requirements for the job miss Avenger’s sidekick?” and the teasing begins
“A list, surprisingly.” Rolling onto your back, you held the screen away and above your face, scrolling past “ I guess my first job will be with Dr. Banner in the lab. Apparently I will be given some sort of assignments throughout the 5 months work span. I will be monitored by Dr. Bruce Banner and the grading, I guess if you can call It that ,will be done by Tony Stark himself.”
“Basically Hulk will be your babysitter.” once this girl starts teasing she never stops even in amazing situations such as this one, good thing you loved her “That sounds so cool though! You will be able to meet Captain America and Black Widow~! I am so jelly of you I swear! When you leave work make sure to wait for someone from the group to walk by, omgggg I am fangirling so much right now. What if you go to dinners with them!?AAAAA!”
“Fun thing about that.” Your eyes landed on the last paragraph of the email “It says here that I am supposed to move into the compound and stay there till further notice. The whole idea is that if I do things well I will get a permanent job. Weird…” you hummed
“Weird !? How? That is so cool! Who knows you might even become an Avenger! You will be living with them anyways.” at this point Nea was either not breathing or hyperventilating so fast you couldn’t hear it
“Don’t be ridiculous.” your attention landed once more on the thought process you had a moment ago “I don’t get one thing. They say here that my PE grades combined with my IT and overall studies make me a great candidate, but I don’t remember sports being a requirement at all, or even providing them in the first place. Does it mean that if my grades were low in that department I wouldn’t have gotten the spot?”
“I guess people of science aren’t that flexible. Who cares anyways! You got in, no ifs and buts. I am telling you, at this point you could be an Avenger.” poor girl began thinking of names and suit designs for you “ Hurry up and pack those bags before I drop by with take away, so we can gossip over Steve Rogers’s abs.”
“Um…don’t get me wrong he is super hot, I just see the Cap more like an older brother figure than anything.” It was true, you looked up to him since the first time you studied about the Civil War. Fearless, gave his life in a way for his people, astonishing man over all.
“Hey! Let me drool over him! You were always more of a Winter Soldier fan anyways.” Nea pouted audibly . Her words made some lone memory pop up in your head, but it was as murky as the rest.
“I don’t know why I am interested in him. Somehow his look is very nostalgic and rugged. Anyways. ”you shook your head out of the mental image of the soldier “I will go pack up, tell my parents and fix up all my documents. Probably find some stuff from former Stark employees online. I want to have a bit of an idea of what he expects and what I am getting myself into.”
“Fine fine, you could have just said you like troubled guys. You were the one who was happy Loki got a second chance after all. I will be over in like 3 hours.” She informed you
“Hey! He deserved to redeem himself, he was used!” a firm Loki supporter as always “Ok then, see ya.”
Hanging up the call you placed your phone to charge and rolled off your bed. The email gave vague information about what you needed, but clothing wise you would still be able to come home and get stuff if you had to. What was on top of your priorities were papers, documents, all your research materials and tech. Those things had to be organized no matter what ,since they got you this far in the first place.
Nae came over as planned and you two had a nice sleepover talking about you know who. The night came and left, letting the morning find you in your bed at 11am. Your forearm rested on top of your forehead in a relaxed manner, letting enough space for an exhale to linger in the air in front of you. Your mind was going over everything that was about to happen to you. It was one of your dreams, you worked for it nonstop day in day out, so why were you so worried about meeting the rest of the Avengers? Maybe it was just anxiety or fear of the unknown, yeah made sense.
All you did during the day was make lists for every piece of tech you were binging with yourself. Things seemed to be in order, but worry kept nibbling on your bones. The moment of truth finally rolled up and so did your suitcase in front of your house. Nea came to send you off as she promised.
“Sweetie, make sure to call us every day. Eat well, don’t overwork yourself and-“ your mom went off with caution about anything and everything that came to mind
“Mom, you know I am going 3 blocks down from here right? Plus I can come home at any time I want to. I am not moving to Mars or getting arrested.” You smirked the panic away from her, giving them a big hug.
“Call me or text me when you get there.” Nea pulled you in, whispering in your ear as quietly as possible “And don’t forget to sneak me a booty pick of good ol’Cap. You know what they say-”
“That is America’s ass.” Your voice came out in a mocking tone
“That i-…let me at least finish it by myself! Geez!” she pushed you towards the door “Ok ok, go now before you spoil me something else” her arms crossed in front of her chest
The walk wasn’t that long, you were too invested in your own thoughts to notice when the time and distance had passed. The glistening windows of the compound building shined into your eyes. Your lungs filled up with a breath that they kept in for a moment, before releasing it back in the outside world. Pulling out the documents you stepped in. The fresh smelling air hit you making you close one eye for a second.
People were walking around you fast and concentrated. Some looked in a hurry, others were on break with a cup of coffee and a strain-leaving expression.
Your feet, as slightly shaky as they were, took you right up to the front desk were a lady with a dark rich red colored uniform looked at you. She flashed a professional smile, her eyes asking for your purpose.
“Um, hello. My name is Y/N -Y/L/N.” she saw the logo on your papers and gasped
“You must be the new intern Mr. Stark told us about.” She signed something and reached out “Can you give me your hand for a second.” Your fingers didn’t go past the surface of the desk when she pocked your skin. Pulling in your extremity, your palm wrapped around the spot that began to sting a bit “Don’t worry about it. This is your identification pass. Fancy, no?” she smiled winking. Her body stood up as she pointed at the elevator far in the back of the foyer.
Instructions were given with each step of the way, calming your nerves a bit. The moment you found yourself inside the elevator she pulled your hand to the sensor on the wall next to the buttons.
Recognized: Code 2514. Welcome Miss Y/N
Your head shot up when F.R.I.D.Y.’s voice echoed in the small space. The women smiled giving you a small nod and stepped out of the vicinity. Once her body was outside ,the doors slid closed. Over them glowed a protective blue light layering over the material like a soft veil.
It felt like you weren’t moving an inch. Your body flinched when the sun stung at your eyes from the window. Your gaze landed over the view of the city, as you went higher and higher, ascending into the clouds The blues and yellows were covering the inside of the elevator, such vibrant and lovely colors warming your body. For a moment your heart felt heavy- lost memory tugged onto it again. An often occurrence lately, yet you kept brushing off as deja vu.
Floor 134. Welcome to the Avenger’s compound Miss Y/N
“134!?” the numbers cracked out with your voice. The interface made you turn towards the opposite opening doors revealing a room as big as a hall, if not almost a stadium. The ceiling was high being the lid to this round area. Your heart beat increased pumping blood to your body, dilating your pupils at least twice their original size. It look amazing, almost like you had just entered heaven. The walls were white, the furniture was perfectly placed and cream colored. Stepping outside you jumped at the sound of the elevator doors closing behind you.
“Wow” escaped your lips, your hand pulling the suitcase closer. So this was the common room or the shared space. The windows were so big they were practically a wall of their own. The bright rays were making themselves at home giving the white paint a new color with each passing minute. The ceilings were probably the equivalent of 3 floors in height. There was this weird feeling of home inside, a bit of isolation maybe mixed in.
“Miss Y/N?” your head swung to the side when you recognized that shy but bright smile. Throwing the papers on top of your suitcase, you extended your arm at the man.
“Ah.” Good thing your mind automatically responds politely to people without you giving it much thought “Dr. Banner. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance.” you shook his hand gently a couple of times and let go ,finding the papers and showing them to him “My name is Y/N-Y/L/N.” gentle bow and a smile followed the words skillfully chosen
“Welcome Welcome. Tony is out right now so I might be the only one actively walking around the compound. Well…”he scratched the back of his neck, lightly hunching over with a sheepish smile “I am one of the people you will be working under anyways, so I guess it is good that I came to get you. I would love to show you the lab, but I am sure you would like to set up your things first.” You nodded and he showed you to your room. The corridor had 3 tall doors scattered on the walls, all looking modern and elegant.
“This is the side where usually we have our female members. Natasha and Wanda will be your nextdoor neighbors. Hope it won’t be any trouble.” Bruce looked at you ,when an aggressive shake took over your neck
“No, no. Not at all sir. I am very grateful to have such amazing heroes next to me. As a matter of fact won’t they be troubled with me here?” and here came the normal anxiety that you had for everything
“I am sure they will like you. Don’t worry about it.” Bruce stepped next to the door and waved you over “You don’t have a key or a door handle as a matter of fact. Tony’s idea, don’t ask. If you got up here on your own I assume he made the girls downstairs give you an identification implant. That is basically your entrance for everything here. Kind of an Avengers thing.” You nodded and him wiggling his fingers like a spell. Placing your hand on the door like he told you activated F.R.I.D.A.Y.
Recognized: Y/N. Access and ownership granted.
The metal frame slid open and you found yourself standing before a big room. It was nicely furnished. The desk was big enough for you to work on it and have everything around. Bookshelves empty and ready to be used on your left and a large bed on your right flush against the wall. The window was once more its own wall right in front of you standing behind the desk. The bathroom door was opening a space before the shelf the same color as the paint in the common room.
“I will let you set up. If you need anything F.R.I.D.A.Y. is always here. The room is interactive, you can ask exactly what works under the interface’s control. The door is one.Take your time.”he was on his way out “Would you like some coffee or tea?”
“I would like some tea, thank you very much.” Bruce flashed you a smile “F.R.I.D.A.Y. the door please.”
Door closed

Summary: Bucky finds the OC working on a case she was specifically told to stay away from. He can’t help but stay close to her.
She couldn't really tell him. She felt like it would end everything. She could just look at his feet, contemplating the situation she was in. Bucky took this time to notice her condition. Even the dim light couldn't hide that she was thinner, maybe paler, than before. His eyes inevitably fell on her chest, as if he could actually see through her shirt at the wound. The shirt on that side looked a bit raised, maybe she had bandages or support on. Her reluctance to use her right arm told him as much.
"I just want to solve this mission", she replied, "That's all."
"Why?"
"Because I am sure this is connected to the shooting", she replied. "I was so close to finishing the mission but then .. "
Bucky let her hand go and stepped back to take a good look at her. "I'm not convinced."
She could only look at his face; his features looked stern, his eyes dark. "Missions get switched from agent to agent every other day, this is a normal thing. I don't see why you would need to run away like this."
"How did you find me?", she inquired, still unwilling to share her thoughts.
"I was in the gym with you", he said, "I was trying to find the answers. Had to go through 40 gyms, got nothing. Then I decided to go underground, and luckily, here I am. I was convinced that you would not let your case rest. I thought I was going to miss you again, but right after I went in, I felt a surge in EMP... I was sure it was you."
She looked at his metal arm. It was covered but his wrist could peek through the sleeve and the glove hem.
"So you can feel it?" she asked monotonously.
"Your power is not really focused on objects as it should be, I am sure others objects suffer some fluctuations too. But it's definitely better than the last time you stopped the bullets."
She sighed and averted her gaze, walking towards the reminiscent of a kitchen counter. "So, what do you want, Bucky?"
"Don't try to distract me from my question", he said with utmost calmness. He could read her body language, she was trying to feign normality, but her body was stiff. She could read his body language, he was certain, assertive, just like he always was when things were under his control.
"Why did you run away?"
There was silence for a few moments and then he spoke again in softer voice.
"Amy", he replied, "We were all worried about you, you were shot. How could you run away like this? We wanted you to heal.."
"I think healing is out of the question now", she replied in a mocking tone, dropping her shoulders, "If you or the others think that I can go back to normal, and continue life like it was before, that is wrong. I am not the same person, Bucky. I have changed. I have vivid nightmares of what happened to me. I can't think straight. I can't sleep because the pain gets so bad at night. The only thing I had, that gave me some sense of purpose, was my job; being able to decipher codes and unravel mysteries, being able to take down evil simply with the power of human intelligence... all that was taken from me because of this. "
"I have to live like this now", she announced. "I want to solve my case, and get my job done... this is my only chance to prove I'm worth being an Avenger."
Bucky got a bit annoyed and made his way over to the counter.
"YOU are the one who told me that I should not identify myself on the basis of the bad that happened to me or the things I did. Right back at you, Amy. You have not lost your abilities; you are still smart, and kind, and .... amazing. You don't need work, people, or circumstances to define who you really are on the inside."
She lowered her head in doubt; now she could understand how Bucky felt when she said those things to him... such words were hard to trust, even if everything in the world said they were.
Suddenly she heard a sharp sound; the sound of a silenced bullet, too close to her ear. She heard someone collapse a few inches away. Bucky had shot someone, then again, then once more. She couldn't do anything but cover her head out of sheer surprise, he was quick to move away and stand right in front of her as a shield. The noise subsided with the sound of the last body crashing on the floor.
"We have to get out of here", she announced what he already knew, rushing to the bag that lay in the corner of the kitchen. Shoving the file inside, she followed Bucky to the door, stopping only when she saw a familiar figure lying on the wooden ground. The man with the 1960 tattoo.
"Damn it!", she announced, studying his face over and over again as if it would bring him back to life.
"What did you do?", she asked, "You killed him."
"Killed who?" She pointed to the man on the floor.
"I didn't shoot him", he stated, confused. He was certain that this man had not appeared in front of him.
"He was..."
"We have to get out of here", he interrupted, as the sound of boots grew louder/
Bucky was anything but weak. He took no time to push her inside the room, forcing the door shut despite her protests. She could hear the grunts and groans of the unfortunate men who had provoked him. With mechanical precision, swift movement and unconstrained brunt, he was rendering men unconscious, even breaking bones. The loud thuds of collapsing bodies was testament that the predator, the Winter Soldier, was still embedded in his fight system.
She had tried to form a force field, but she didn't know how effective it had been, given that she couldn't focus. Her anxiety had surged and she was expecting the worst. She wanted to protect Bucky from the guns. After a few minutes, there was no more noise, just silence, and a lingering smell of gunpowder. The door unlocked.
She only took one step forward and put his arm around him. Bucky felt her body shudder a little as her right arm unraveled from her side and settled around his torso. For the first time ever, she felt the coldness of his metal arm, lightly settle on her body, touching her waist. He was stiff as a board, but didn't resist her embrace. For a moment, she wanted all her pain to vanish away with the warmth of his body. He could feel her desperation and pain, consumed by worry over her arm.
"It's ok", he said, "I'm here".
In a sense it was so grotesque; bodies lying around as she held on to him. She extracted all sense of warmth and comfort from the embrace, reveling in the firmness of his body against hers, the sense of pain losing potency from this support.
"We need to leave", he said, "they know where you are."
She was quick to follow Bucky, stealing one last glance at the dead Russian. No word was said as the escaped the building, ran through the alleys, left darkened by her abilities. The night was cold, or maybe it felt colder because the adrenaline had run out and the body needed to cool down. It was only 15 minutes later, when they entered a cemetery, that he motioned to stop. After catching his breath, he asked "Who was that guy?"
She tried to level her breathing. Her forehead felt colder to her because the anxiety also made her sweat profusely. If she were being honest, she didn't know how long she could keep up the "put-together" act before just letting it all go and telling Buck everything about the case. She wouldn’t give it up, of course, but at least she wouldn’t have to keep up a façade either.
There was no veil she could put before him, his eyes were struck with worry as he traced her body in the moonlight. He remained speechless. He knew why she was quiet; the girl who always eluded his understanding seemed to be like an open book to him.
"Amy... you can trust me", he replied, "I won't tell anyone. But you have to be safe."
She looked at his face and tried to drink in the pain she felt. "You'll just tell everyone where I am. They'll get to this point in the case. I know, I sound stupid Bucky, but I really want to do this on my own, like I was doing before."
"Amy, there is not a single case in our work that doesn't need anyone's help at SOME point. We use spies, whistle blowers, messengers, technology, friends... all of them. I want to know what you know. I won't jeopardize your mission, I promise. I can't leave you alone like this either."
She was honestly surprised. A few months ago, this man would have walked away at the first sign of exclusion. He would have left without any further questions. He never bothered anyone with his presence and didn't get offended if he was ignored. But this man was behaving a little differently. This man was trying to reach out to her, offer some help. Perhaps it was because he shared the same predicament with her.
"Trust me, please", he began. For one moment, she stopped herself, she didn't know why. The thought that he had once been a trained assassin for HYDRA rose it's head. What if he turns? What if this was all pretend? But she chastised herself and nodded.
"The man who got killed, he was supposed to meet me some time later. I don't know when or where, but he had important information. I haven't even looked at the file before all this happened."
She pulled out the file from her bag and illuminated it's contents, while Bucky surveyed every side to see if they were alone.
"I KNEW IT!", she held the file firmly. "He IS alive..."
Bucky's face expressed confusion. She shook her head and assembled her bag again. "We need to be out of here first."

It had been a long time since you felt as good as you did at the end of the table, sipping your wine in silence, your dinner half eaten, hair thrown over your shoulder.
There were few worries running through your mind as you inspected your fake nails. They weren’t long, but they needed to be changed. Your real fingernails were… well, they weren’t the average nails. Half of them were melted off and the rest were half-way to recovery.
It hurt, but everything on your body hurt. You were poison, after all. The pain had become the norm for you. Strange, and maybe pitiful for others, yet nothing new to you.
“How’s training?” Tony asked, seated next to you. You liked Tony. He seemed a bit cautious around you, but he was an alright guy. Pretty funny too.
“I may have gone a bit hard on the dummies this week,” you murmured, glancing at him with a sheepish look.
“So, I heard. I actually wanted to discuss that with you,” he said, leaning on the table. “Thinking about making something stronger.”
Your brows furrowed. Stronger dummies? If he wanted to waste his time on making dummies for you, then by all means, you’d let him.
“Sounds good,” you nodded your head, not really caring about whether or not the dummies would withstand the force of your powers.
“But, that’s not what I meant,” he commented, giving you a pointed look. “You make any progress?”
You really hated being reminded of how benched you were in the team. One mission was all you had been allowed to go on. One mission.
“I think so,” you said, biting the inside of your cheek. You knew the team was used to you not being were talkative – or attentive for that matter – so you didn’t care try.
“I’m glad,” he said, with a genuine smile. At least you thought it was genuine, Tony didn’t strike you as someone who bothered to smile if he didn’t have to.
Another glass of wine later, and you had a sudden urge to be outside – in the city. It was one thing seeing all the lights from a window, it was another to be amongst them. You hadn’t been out of the building for almost a year – except for on your balcony and the roof, places you liked going to be at peace.
You didn’t ever feel a need to be amongst people, they frightened you. You could kill a block of people in a minute, yet you were the frightened one.
So, when you felt the want to be outside, you ran with it. Why not push yourself even further? You were cracking open your shell, forming a new self. Maybe this new self liked being outside?
Standing from your seat, you gave Tony a tight smile. You moved past all the wondering eyes around the table, ignoring the frown on Steve’s face. What did he care? For all he knew, you were going to your room. Idiot.
On your way to the elevator, his annoying voice called after you. You could feel your blood begin to boil. You really didn’t want this buzzkill around you when you were trying to enjoy yourself. Turning around, you glanced at him.
“Y/N, can I talk to you?” He asked, his face one of concern. You could tell he was trying to play it off cool, but you could see right through it.
“I’m tired,” you lied, turning towards the elevator.
“It won’t take long,” he urged, and you rolled your eyes at your raging heart. Maybe if you agreed, it’d be over fast enough to still be able to enjoy a walk out of the building.
“Fine,” you agreed, your voice monotone. He led you to a nearby conference room. He sat in a chair, while you lingered by the door. He gestured for you to sit and you wanted to roll your eyes as you sat, but you kept your cool. At least on the outside.
“You want to tell me what’s going on?”
“What do you mean?” You asked, really not interested.
You felt like your answers to all of their questions were always the same. You had them on a constant loop, ready to fire at any time. ‘I’m tired,’ ‘I don’t know what you mean’, ‘I’m fine’.
“Y/N…” he sighed, leaning forward in his chair, his arms on his knees. Why did he have to talk like that? Like you were such a disappointment.
“I just want to help,” he explained, his expression one of sweet pity. “Just let me help you.”
“You can’t help me,” you whispered. Regret flooded your system. Could you have made it any more obvious that there was something wrong?
“You don’t know that,” he argued, his frown deepening.
“It’s nothing, Steve,” you said, your voice forced as you avoided his eyes.
“There clearly is something,” he tried, but you’d had enough. He wasn’t your savior. You didn’t need a savior. You didn’t need anyone.
“I’m fine,” you said, your voice cold as you stood from the chair, about to walk out.
“Where are you headed?” He asked, and you stopped, wondering if you should tell him. You were an adult for crying out loud, why did he need to know?
“Out,” you said.
“We’re all having a gathering tonight, why don’t you stay here?” He asked, and you frowned.
“No thank you,” you muttered, hand reaching for the doorknob.
“Come on, maybe it’ll feel good,” he continued, and you were beginning to feel pressed. Why wouldn’t he just shut up already?
“I’m fine, Steve, don’t worry about it,” you tried to sound chirpier, hoping he would just let you go.
“Y/N… I insist,” he added, his voice a hitch darker, as he stood from his seat. Your head snapped towards him. He wasn’t asking you anymore. Staring at him with wide eyes, alarms were going off in your head.
“Steve… What are you doing?”
“I… We can’t let you leave.”
Your mind spiraled. Your blood ran cold, the air leaving your lungs. What were they doing? You had to be misunderstanding something. This couldn’t be happening. He wasn’t telling you they were locking you in. No way.
“What… are you talking about?” You seethed, taking a step towards him, all your defenses up. You could feel the heat on your skin, the steam, the green sheen on the world around you.
“Y/N, it’s for your own good-”
“What the fuck are you doing, Steve?” You asked, the fury burning through your body.
“Y/N, please,” came Sam’s voice from behind you. Your head snapped towards the other entry to the conference room. He wasn’t alone. Tony was there. Wanda. Natasha. James. You stared at them all in utter shock.
“What is going on?” You asked, your glare hardening.
“Y/N, we just want to help you,” Natasha said, a sad frown on her face. Help you? Hah!
“By locking me in?” You asked through gritted teeth.
“We know what you went through, and we don’t intend-”
“You don’t know shit, Steve,” you snapped, looking at the captain. “What, you read my file and think you know what happened to me?”
“This isn’t a punishment.”
“Then what the fuck is it?”
“I know what happened to you, and I’m not blaming you for it, but you have to understand that people are afraid.”
“Let me make one thing clear, Steve,” you hissed, stepping up to him. You stopped right in front of him, glaring up into his eyes. If he was afraid, he was good at hiding it.
“You know what I want you to know,” you seethed. “Which isn’t very much.”
“I know they hurt you and kept you against your will.”
“Oh, do you?”
“Yes. You keep forgetting that half of us are science projects just like you.”
“You know what they did to James? To Wanda and her brother?” You asked and he didn’t answer, though his frown told you that yes, he was very aware.
“What they did to them... was nothing compared to what they did to me.”
“Y/N,” Tony begged, standing on the other side of the table, looking at you. You looked at him, your eyes glaring green. You grabbed a ballpoint pen from the table and took a step back, turning your body so all of them could see you. You slit open your palm with a grunt and held your hand out for them to see. Vibrant green blood prickled out of the fresh cut.
“My blood is venom Steve, I have poisonous gas seeping out of my pores,” you sneered, looking back to Steve who looked beyond shocked. “This doesn’t just happen to someone.”
You glared at the other people in the room. Your eyes landing on Wanda. The perfect version of you – the one you could have been, had you only been chosen last.
This wasn’t right. Why could Wanda roam free, why could James? Why could Natasha? They were all murderers. They had killed people, you hadn’t.
“The board doesn’t know enough about your abilities yet, we need to know you won’t cause any threat to the public, it’s as easy as that.”
“There’s a big difference between can and will, Steve,” you whispered, your heart breaking at the realization that you hadn’t only been outcasted and excluded – you had been trapped as well.
“Y/N, I just don’t want anything happening to you,” Steve said, taking a step closer, a deep frown on his face.
“So, what? You think I’d gladly let you keep me here, knowing this?”
“No, I know you don’t like anything I do,” he said, and the expression on his face made your chest feel heavy. “This isn’t our decision. It’s the boards.”
“Aren’t you the Avengers?” You asked, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. Steve motioned for the others to leave the room and waited for the door to close before he sat you down again. You let him. Your body felt weak. Broken. You hadn’t thought it could break any further.
“I want you to be free, Y/N, I really do.”
“You don’t care,” you whispered, looking down as an angry tear ran down your cheek.
“I probably care more than anyone in the building,” he frowned, and you closed your eyes. What was going on? Your mind was spinning out of control, you couldn’t gather a single thought that made any sense.
“Do you hear me?” He asked, his hand reaching out to tilt your head up to look at him. “I care about you.”
“Don’t lie to me, Steve,” you said, your voice breaking. You felt so pathetically weak. This was not how you pictured your day. Your life.
“Why can’t you just listen?” He asked, his voice strained.
“Because you’re all liars,” you whimpered, leaning down to sob into your hands, your heart breaking into a million pieces.
“Y/N,” he said, resting a hand on your knee. “I’m sorry for not telling you what was going on, it was a mistake and I’ll regret it forever, but I don’t have a say in keeping you here.”
“You’re fucking Captain America, or is all that bullshit too?” You sneered through your cries.
“That doesn’t mean I can take the law in my own hands,” he said, his voice quieter.
“So, I just stay here until I’m allowed to leave?” You whispered, glaring up at him.
“Yes, it won’t be any different than before you knew about this.”
“Not any different?” You asked, a soft scoff leaving your lips. “It won’t be any different staying here now, knowing I can’t leave the building? What the fuck is wrong with you?” You asked, your expression one of utter disbelief. You couldn’t believe your ears.
“That’s not what I meant,” he called after you as you stormed out of the room. You needed to clear your mind. You could hear Steve follow you, so you ran. You looked at the elevator, but quickly decided it would take too long.
“Y/N!” Steve called, running after you. You had to move quick, he was way faster than you, he would catch up. Throwing open the door to the stairs, you ran up two-three steps at a time, clinging onto the railing.
You couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. You needed to get air, you needed to get to the roof. Your blood had run cold as fear settled in your stomach. You hated being trapped more than anything.
“Y/N, don’t do this!” Steve called after you, his voice booming in the hollow stairway. You could hear the echoes of his fast footsteps following you. You groaned as you reached for the door to the roof, but he grabbed onto your waist before you could touch it. A cry left your throat as your fingers barely grazed the metal.
“Let me go!” You wailed, trashing in Steve’s hold. His grip tightened around your waist, holding you away from the door. You pushed at his arms, your legs kicking, trying to get him off, but there was no way in hell you could match his strength.
“I’m not letting you go, until you calm down,” he said, calmly. You groaned and considered using your powers on him, but you couldn’t get yourself to. You weren’t a monster, no matter how much they wanted you to look like one.
“I hate you,” you lied, your bottom lip trembling as hot tears streamed down your face uncontrollably. “I hate you,” you whimpered between violent sobs. He sat down against the wall with your back pressed against his chest.
“No, you don’t,” he whispered, and you hated the calming effect his voice had on your body. Your trashing slowly eased as you grew to tired, the adrenaline leaving your body. The only thing left, was sadness and betrayal. You tiredly pushed at his arms, yet he wouldn’t let go.
“Let me go,” you breathed.
“I’m not letting you go,” he whispered. “I won’t.”
“You lied to me,” you whispered. It was as if even though you had always had a strange feeling towards him, you’d still felt somewhat safe. Like, even if you didn’t like all the attention he got for things the whole team had done, he was still strong and capable.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, his voice sounded so defeated.
The worst feeling of all, wasn’t about being lied to at all. It was knowing the breaking of your heart didn’t even have a single thing to do with being trapped. It was broken because you realized in that moment, sitting in his arms, that your feelings of resentment for Steve may not have been resentment at all.
The worst feeling of all, was knowing how much you didn’t hate him.

"CHRISTOPHER ROBERT EVANS, GET YOUR ASS HERE RIGHT NOW"
Chris snapped his head towards the direction of the voice down the hall and then snapped back towards Dodger who had been staying still next to him, "Uh oh, that doesn't sound good" he said to the dog. Dodger didn't reply but he ran off to where (Y/N) is. Chris, of course, followed after him immediately from the kitchen.
He found (Y/N) by the doorway of the room he just finished designing earlier. He had just taken a break from sketching the room he wanted when (Y/N)'s voice rang from the room.
"Yes, honey?" He called, approaching her carefully.
(Y/N) looked at him with an unamused expression on her face. Eyebrows up in a questioning manner and in her hand is the sketch he had just drawn. Dodger sat by her side, waiting for something to happen between the two.
"Baby, please tell me this is a joke" she said, handing him the sketch, obviously displeased at something.
Chris on the other hand was beaming, he flattened out the paper and began pointing at things in the drawing, "No! See, this was my idea for the room, the bed will go-" "The crib" "Yeah, sorry, crib, it will go by the window, then the changing table will be on its side, and the wardrobe will-"
Before Chris could continue explaining, (Y/N) waved her hands frantically, wanting him to stop. "No no no no," she pressed her mouth into a thin line before continuing, "Baby, honey, dear, the love of my life, the father of my child, the apple of my eye, the dork I fell in love with, I don't think you understood what I'm complaining about" she exhaled sharply.
Obviously confused, Chris furrowed his eyebrows at her, "I thought you didn't understand about the design?" He asked. "No, I understood it perfectly, you're wonderful at mapping things" she then took the sketch out of his hands, "What I don't understand is this" she turned it around and pointing at the items listed behind it.
Again, Chris found himself as confused as before, maybe even more. "Yeah? These are the item codes and its names, I don't wanna order the wrong things"
(Y/N) sighed, putting the paper on a nearby chair in the room. She then put both of her hands on Chris's cheeks, "Babe, do you know what we need to make and what you said want to design?" "Yeah, a baby room..." "For...?" Chris then looked down to (Y/N)'s bulging stomach, putting his own hands on it with a gentle smile on his face, "For our baby boy or girl who will be here in 3 weeks"
Seeing how happy he looked made (Y/N) melt. She mirrored his gentle smile and drop her hands on top of his on her stomach.
"So, you do understand that we're supposed to have a baby room ready, am I correct?" She asked again, making sure. Chris nodded his head confidently.
Seeing his nod made her exhaled sharply.
"Then why the hell did you design our baby's room like a Mickey Mouse shrine?"
Hearing that made him widened his eyes.
"Mickey Mouse shrine- what the hell does that mean?" Chris asked back.
(Y/N) handed him the paper again and gestured to the room, "Okay, imagine the Mickey crib you wrote here paired with the simplistic Mickey wallpaper you chose from the baby catalogue, and the-"
"Ohh..."
Chris nodded in understanding. He had finally seen how awfully Mickey shrine-like his baby's room would be if (Y/N) had not pointed it out.
The epiphany actually made Chris stood in his place like a statue, eyes fixated to the room as the wheels in his brain turned. It bored Dodger, so the dog walked away some place else, probably the living room.
The look on Chris's face was absolutely adorable. It made (Y/N) giggle and leaned in to press a kiss on his lips, "Don't worry, Babe, I'll help you pick out new things. I know you're really excited for this baby, and I think they're excited to have you as their dad"
Chris wrapped his arms around (Y/N) and peck her forehead, "Thanks for stopping me from creating the most ridiculous baby room ever created"
In that moment, she knew that the both of them would make a really great team in being parents. They got each other's back and honesty was never questioned between them. They're ready. They definitely do.
"But can we do a Little Mermaid wallpaper though?"
Request: “ Thor x female reader: Readers first kiss with Thor. She’s really short and smol, but she can fight better than Natasha. And that’s saying A LOT. So when she gets hurt, Thor is so upset and he’s afraid to lose her, so instead of showing his worried side, he shows his angry side. They yell and fight and she turns to walk away but he pulls her to him and kisses her. She feels so fragile and he has to bend over but he lOVES IT.”
Thor - “Be More Careful Next Time”
Thor sat stiffly on the quinjet. Over to his left the wounds were being tended. Clint had a nasty cut under his eye. Half an inch higher and things could have been much worse. Steve had some bruises too but he would heal in no time. That wasn’t who he was concerned about anyway.
She had been reckless. Just because she was a better fighter than even Natasha didn’t mean she could take on everything herself. Especially not when Hydra had enhanced that soldier, given him weapons none of them could have predicted. They had won in the end but not after he had seen her being thrown around like she was nothing.
He screwed his eyes shut, trying to block out the memory of her limp body hitting the ground like a ragdoll. For a second he had thought… God, he didn’t want to remember it. Nor the surprise and fear in her eyes when she did thankfully lift her head. He had never seen her look like that before. Had never seen her look so small, so fragile. He didn’t think she had felt like that in a long time either.
As soon as they landed she was on her feet, the movement pulling him out of his thoughts.
“Make sure you get checked over,” Steve told her, clearly ignoring his own injuries.
She just gestured to Clint and said, “Clint should go first. I’ll be fine.”
Thor’s hands clenched into fists as she walked away. He hadn’t missed the slight limp in her step or the way her hand drifted to her stomach. Natasha opened her mouth to say something but closed it again as Thor stormed past, cape sweeping behind him as he strode after her.
They were out of sight of the quinjet and the others when he found her. He called her name, sounding more angry than he had probably meant to. She stopped, turning to see him stride towards her, stopping too close to her really but he just wanted to grab her and check she was alright. He clenched his fists instead, breathing hard.
“What’s up?” she asked.
“What’s up?” replied Thor, barely able to comprehend how casual she was being about the whole thing. “What’s up is you need to get your injuries checked now, like Steve said.”
She rolled her eyes and tried to turn away. “I’ll be fine. I’ll go later.”
“You’ll go now,” he snapped. He hated ordering her around and knew she hated it too but the words were out before he could stop himself.
Her shoulders stiffened and she raised herself up to her full height, though that still meant she had to tilt her head back to look up at him. He was reminded not for the first time that day of how tiny she really was.
“I’ll go after I shower,” she said, jaw tense as she spoke. “I know how to look after myself, Thor. I’ll be fine.”
“How to look after yourself? Like when you took on that soldier all by yourself? You could have been killed!”
“That’s kind of the job, isn’t it?” She was trying to be flippant, he could tell, but she couldn’t look him in the eye when she said it.
“The job isn’t to die,” he told her. HIs breath caught on the last word. “You have to be more careful than that. We’re all there to help you.”
“I know that,” she snapped, frustrated, “but I can look after myself. Don’t act like I’m some stupid little girl who needs taking care of Thor.”
“I’m not.” He bristled at the accusation but she wasn’t done yet.
“I’ll go get checked later. I don’t need you getting all overprotective over this. Just leave me alone.”
Her voice was tight, the sound of it doing something to the way his heart was beating. She spun away, ready to storm off, but he didn’t give her a chance. In one smooth movement his hand was on her hip, carefully avoiding where he had noted her injuries, and he was pulling her back up against him. His other hand went to her face, cupping her jaw and tilting her head up. He saw the flash of flustered surprise before their mouths met and felt her breath catch.
But she didn’t pull away. For a moment she tensed, but the little whimper that completely undid him as her first kissed her seemed to do the same for her. He felt her sink into him, her body going soft and compliant in a heartbeat. It was intoxicating to finally feel her like this, so delicate, so vulnerable. She was never like this.
His hand slid around the back of her neck, holding her possessively, feeling how delicate she was under his large hand. The other slid around her waist and she arched into him. He could completely overwhelm her like this, he realised. He could just scoop her up in his arms like she was nothing and carry her away somewhere private and never stop kissing her.
And she would let him. He could feel it in the way she let him kiss her. All her bravado and toughness had evaporated adorably the second he touched her. Controlling himself somehow, he pulled back but kept a hold of her, just in case. And because he couldn’t help himself.
Her cheeks were flushed, eyes shining, lips parted as she gazed up at him. She felt so fragile in his hands and when she softly whispered his name he lowered his head to lean it against hers, fighting the urge to kiss her again. He was having to bend over so much he should have laughed but some part of him he had just discovered actually loved it.
He was about to say something when she spoke and in a small, shaky voice admitted, “I was scared.”
Arms wrapping around her securely, he hugged her, having to lean down further to bury his face against her neck. “So was I but you’re safe now.”
He heard her swallow hard and sniff a little as she nodded against him. It was only when she wobbled a little that he realised she was having to stand on her tiptoes. While everything in him told her to scoop her up and carry her to the medical room he eased his grip instead, straightening up.
“You still need your wounds checked,” he said gruffly and this time she didn’t argue, only nodded and let him wrap his arm around her delicate shoulders so she could press safely against him as they walked.
I hope this was close enough to what you wanted. (I love size difference stuff)
