In this universe winged sophonts is very rare. The flight itself is a very energy-intensive and demanding way of movement. One of the demands - reducing body weight - was probably a border for intelligence in most flying creatures.
But AVI (aka Aviens) is an exception to this unspoken rule. Their morphology and anatomy is rather specific. Although the shape of their bodies resemble that of Earthish feathered and some extinct Earthish creatures. Analogues of this physique are found on other planets in the Sector.
Aviens have a more unique structure than all other sapient species. Their body is a compromise, just like other sophonts. All their features and adaptations - from the auricles on their chest to the reflective semaphores on their head - despite their strangeness - have their evolutionary advantages. Their minds and worldview are also adapted and different from those of other intelligent species.

Крылатые софонты встречаются в этой вселенной очень редко. Сам по себе полет является очень энергетически затратным и требовательным способом передвижения. Именно одно из требований - уменьшение веса тела, вероятно являлось препятствием на пути к разуму для подавляющего большинства летающих существ.
Но представители АВИ (или Авиены) являются исключением из этого негласного правила. Их морфология и анатомия весьма специфичны, хотя форма их тела схожа с таковой у земных пернатых или некоторых вымерших форм. Аналоги такого телосложения встречаются и на других планетах в Секторе.
Авиены имеют уникальнейшее строение среди прочих разумных видов. Как и у всех софонтов их тело - компромисс. Все их особенности и адаптации - от ушных раковин на груди и до светоотражающих семафоров на их головах - несмотря на странность - имеют свои эволюционные выгоды. Их разум и мировоззрение также являются адаптациями и отличны от других разумных видов.
