Correct me if I’m wrong but the white washing of Sun comes from the fact that Sun originally had dark eyes and tanner skin, but after maya Sun was given blue eyes and (admittedly he’s still tan) somewhat lighter skin.

Granted, every other character in rwby is as white as the skin on my pale Irish ass, so any character with a drop of color stands out much more.

Sun's eyes were a very dark blue in Volume 1, and were changed to full-on black in Volume 2 (most likely to contrast him with Jaune and Neptune, both of whom had blue eyes), then changed again to brighter blue in Volume 4.

Sun's more tanned skin is also more intact than people are willing to admit.

It's easy to fall for the idea that Sun got whitewashed mostly because a) his white jacket no longer freaking glows (I personally am devastated by this) and b) more varied light levels were available in Maya, most noticeably the sunset and dusk lightings offered in Volume 4.

If anything, he's more tan than he was before, if you don't count his calves no longer being an entirely different color.

Honestly I would love to see rwby Twitter reactions to an actual anime like FMA:brotherhood.

I swear half of them would go insane that Roy “I committed war crimes” Mustang is a protagonist your supposed to root for.

i've never watched it before but my fiance has & he's made the comparison before wheeze. rwby fans can't handle complexity, that's why they need their fave faux anime to have all the spice of milk.
