Red talismans & the Idol Event: a theory
I've been thinking about it since yesterday, frankly even too much, maybe. But, hear me out for a moment, if you will.
Spoilers for the A Wrong Wish and a Giant Cat event and minor spoilers for Lucifer's Butler card and the I'll Be Your Idol event ahead.
So. In the last part of the latest event, Zepar gives us this piece of information.
It is used as an explanation of why this whole tragedy happened in the first place, and while at first I was only thinking how unfair this situation was for the MC... But then I remembered one detail and from there I just started going downhill ^^;
Like this event reminds us, back in That Butler, Working Part-Time all the Kings suffer from side effects as a consequence of using Zepar's red talismans, and they are all harmless things.
For Lucifer, in particular, it at first appears as if his side-effect is "To act affectionate"... But then you get to his Butler card, where he reveals this detail
So, he tells us he was never under the talisman's influence. I remember reading theories about it being because of his near-divine nature. And it made perfect sense at the time! Obviously, Lucifer is extremely powerful, so it wouldn't be weird if his power somehow overrode Zepar's. ... But, now we know that certain "constitutions" cause a delay in the manifestation of the side effects, which then cause them to snowball in size.
... And, pray tell, what was the most dramatic event that happened to our favorite fallen angel recently?
That's right. The Idol event.
It honestly makes so much sense to me! And it would explain a few plot holes in that event! How did Metatron's essence escape from the "Shadow Realm"? (forgive the Yu-gi-oh reference, but I genuinely can't remember what it was called) Why now of all times? And, most of all, why did he go against Lucifer of all beings? I mean, sure, he did say he was jealous of the Seraphims, but why not search for revenge against Mammon?
Well, according to my theory, the red talisman's magic would have reduced the strenght of the dimension he was trapped in, allowing part of him to escape. And he would have felt compelled to direct his wrath against Lucifer because he was the one who had to suffer the consequences first and foremost!
So... That's my theory! What do you think? Does this make sense or am I thinking too much about it? Personally speaking I am taking this as a new heacanon even if the writers probably did not think about it back when they were writing the event ^^;
