ITS LIKE TABATA GOT HALFWAY THRU FFX AND WENT “YAH... YAH THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLOT”

there’s so much fuckin, archaeological evidence that it was a better game at some point in development, like... there’s so many well-thought-out character tics (gait, body language, the whole skills system). there’s so many seeds of good character arcs that just go nowhere. there’s the seed of a political conflict between Cid’s ideology and Regis’ which appears nowhere but in the dossiers. so many arcs that just get no resolution (suddenly everyone’s friends again by ch. 11???). then there’s the entire character of Ardyn, like... it feels like EVERYTHING was setting up for a mid-game twist that never happened. (side note: a gay-coded character whose MO is spreading disease and who flirts creepily with the party? that’s a pretty horrible take SE)

i just... there’s so much good in there but good lord there’s just so much bad. i want to rescue all the characters and their quirks and put ‘em in a good game
