B. Cool-Aid Reveals Track Listing For Leather BLVD. Featuring Ladybug Mecca, Foushee & More

Pink Siifu and producer Ahwlee's B. Cool-Aid project share "soundgood" featuring Liv.e, Jimetta Rose and V.C.R. from their Leather Blvd. album. The spacey ballad is the album's third preview, and the duo has released the video for it. They have revealed the tracklisting for the album which has appearances from Ladybug Mecca, Foushee, Butcher Brown, Big Rube and more. In anticipation of their album, they have announced dates for their Live In Leather tour that will kick off on March 18th in Chicago. B. Cool Aid released their last full-length album Syrup in 2019. The new album follows last year's double single bonded, including "COO" and "usedtoo." Pink Siifu and Awhlee still maintain their monthly BRWN show on NTS Radio. Leather Blvd. comes out on March 31st, via Lex Records.

Last Friday Pink Siifu and Fly Anakin dropped a collaborative record called FlySiifu's, and it's a lean hip-hop record propelled by engaging, soulful production and remarkably tight chemistry between the two MCs that share equal billing. Highlight "Open up Shop" is the record's supremely melodic, effervescent centerpiece, and it's one of the most immediate cruising songs that I've heard since Amine's Limbo dropped earlier this year. The instrumentation, courtesy of Ahwlee, is a minimalist mix of swinging boom-bap drums and minor organ chords, and the highly melodic repetition of the arrangements provides a warmth thrust that helps ground their agile flows. Oddly enough, Pink Siifu doesn't actually have a verse on "Open up Shop", and is relegated to pitched down vocal ad-libbing to close things out. Thankfully, Fly Anakin and B Cool-Aid (who comes through with the first verse and delivers the song's infectious hook) have no problem picking up the slack, and make a strong pair themselves.

"Open up the shop at the venue/Come through, come through" is all that B Cool-Aid's hook consists of, but his cool, understated delivery is a perfect foil for the nimble flow that Anakin barrels out the gates of his verse with. Anakin delivers one of the strongest verses on the whole LP, but his dexterous flow doesn't seem to draw purposeful attention to itself, or seem showy for the sake of it, so much as it functions as an additional rhythmic thrust that heightens the melodic foundations as the song segues into a crescendo. Anakin's verse heightens to urgency of the composition without compromising the warm melodic throughline. While no other song on FlySiifu's matches the highs of "Open up Shop", the rest of the LP was recorded with the same ambition, chemistry, and attention to detail, and it's easily one of the better collaborative albums that I've heard so far this year.
