Can someone explain why people do this?

Ok almost Everytime I see someone mention echo or becho I always see them put an asterisk or period or something in between the letters (Ex: E.cho, B*echo). Why do people do that (it’s also with other characters and ships to but I mainly see it with anything echo)? If it’s because you’re too disgusted with the characters or ship, I get not liking the character or ship but like why? I’m just assuming and I could be wrong, if I am can someone explain.

I can’t get behind this “he thought it was Clarke” theory. Mostly because I can’t help but think he wouldn’t have touched Clarke’s hand like that. He wouldn’t know how it would be received. If it were Clarke... well, saving his life doesn’t mean she forgave him. She might not appreciate the gesture.

I watched it over and over. I made gifs, slowed them down, dissected the moment but I just don’t see it.

The more pressing matter in this exchange?

Bellamy’s response to Echo’s blatant heart eyes...

He can’t even look at her. Instead he looks at the crazy little sister who he, just moments ago, claimed to want dead. To her face. Right before she sacrificed herself to save him.

Because that incredibly uncomfortable situation is easier to deal with than being on the receiving end of this look from Echo—easier than looking his girlfriend in the eyes when he knows he’s in love with someone else.

He could’ve given her a comforting smile in return. Even just a quirk of his lips. Any acknowledgment/recognition/reassurance. Gratitude even.

But he didn’t. Because he doesn’t want to give her false hope.

Clarke, I repeat CLARKE FUCKING GRIFFIN, telling Echo that she(Echo) is good for Bellamy, and admitting she(Clarke) knows that Bellamy loves, I repeat LOVES, Echo is such an important moment. It is monumental that Clarke is the one to affirm that Bellamy is in love with Echo and that they are good for each other.

Clarke is Bellamy’s platonic soulmate and she is giving her approval to Becho as a romantic couple.

one day i’ll write a meta about how bellamy is only with echo because after clarke died he stepped into her role in their relationship and echo took the place of bellamy. also a bunch of bullshit about how echo’s feelings of being undeserving of love parallel bellamy’s own emotions so he gives her the love and forgiveness he can’t give himself.

i like the idea of everyone getting along and echo bowing out because she knows how bellamy feels about clarke; it's certainly the nicest and least messy way of resolving this. but i keep thinking about that look on echo's face during the "if clarke were here" "clarke's not here!" conversation. it was annoyed, bordering on an eyeroll. methinks someone's heard clarke's name more time than she cared to. i don't think it's gonna be so easy unless she just gets pissed.

I didn’t read much into her look when Bellamy talked about Clarke on the ring. She barely reacted. Maybe she’s used to it lol

I don’t know how it’s going to go down. I like the idea of Echo bowing out because she would be calling the shots but I also like the idea of Bellamy being honest about his feelings and not stringing her along.

I don’t know, I DON’T KNOW!

I just know it’s going to hurt.

I have to think that no matter what Bellamy does, Echo is going to have to feel like she’s playing second fiddle to Clarke. She knows how much Clarke meant to him, romantic or not, and I don’t see Echo being the kind of person to hang around when the person she’s with clearly loves someone else so much.

And like, sorry not sorry, if I saw my significant other engaging in the kind of embrace Clarke and Bellamy just shared, I’d be like “What the hell is going on? What is she to you? Do you hug your sister like that? No, you don’t.”
