Levi allowed himself very little luxuries in life, and buying books was one of them. He avoided chain retailers as much as possible and deliberately chose The Hobbit Hole to shop at. Not because it was more convenient -- which it was -- but because he liked to support the small businesses of Redwood. He believed in karma; he was a grassroots kind of guy, anyway.

He knew the store like the back of his hand and walked right to the area he thought the book he wanted would be with a small wave to the woman at the register. He pursed his lips as his eyes scanned the shelf. Nope, wasn’t there. He chewed on his bottom lip for a second -- he hated bothering people, but he also wanted this book. He peered around the corner and offered a small smile. “Hey, do you think you could order a book called Children of Blood and Bone for me?” He hesitated and his eyes flicked back to the shelf. “Unless you have it and I’m dumb today.”
