Babe is used to being treated like a trophy, an object to be passed and paraded around. He also spent a good 10 years believing he didn’t deserve love and that people only ever wanted him for his body or to take advantage of him because his best friend kept telling him so.

Charlie was literally declared, and I mean this in the most literal sense, worthless by his own ‘father’. He spent night after night locked in a white room because they couldn’t figure out his powers and, therefore, couldn’t make money off him, and was then promptly thrown out of the Foundation to fend for himself the second he turned 18.

Neither of them will be handling anything to do with Willy in a remotely healthy/sane/normal way, even if they’ve been together for a year. It’s not great or ideal but i really do think it’s in-character for them.
