a note on backgrid:

backgrid is a platform that connects paparazzi photographers to media outlets. it is not a company solely built of hired pap shots. there are hundreds of paps that use the platform, all with different business models.

saying that backgrid automatically means they’re staged is factually incorrect.

saying that the photos were taken within a gated community by a photographer who has been working with Louis for years is factually correct. Saying Louis has gone years without pap shots and could do so if he wanted is factually correct. Saying that he looked at the camera before he kissed her is factually correct.

i will never encourage arguing with antis or the general public, but make sure you are arguing the right things if you choose to do so.

Celebrities are public figures, so some aspects of their relationships will be made public. That doesn't mean they're doing it for publicity or that it is staged. They shouldn't have to live their lives in secret, because if they're seen outside, or caught by paparazzi (notorious for violating boundaries) they're accused of seeking attention or something. Gossip blogs and tabloids are often wrong and have tense relationships with celebrities, so I certainly don't blindly believe them, and I find them generally disrespectful. But there's a different in secondhand information and just seeing what a celebrity says or does (even when their privacy has unfortunately been violated).

Listen, you have two choices. You can either continue to live in blissfull ignorance or you can read up on the symbiotic relationship between the paps and celebrity PR teams and get your mind blown.

In hindsight, it's now blatently obvious to me that the Paris pap incident was a staged set up, a very futile attempt to give the Mykonos beach pics some "it's not staged, these paps are relentless" validity. Alas, i've been around the block before. Seen this exact thing happen before.

It's too bad (for them) that at least half of H's fandom have been around the block before.
